The Dragon Journal - February 9, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Dragon Families,
As part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of our students, we want to inform you about the ALICE drills that we conduct at Schroeder. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. It is a comprehensive approach designed to empower students and teachers to respond effectively in emergency situations.
During the drills, teachers review our district response protocols in an age-appropriate slideshow format. One of the most important aspects of ALICE training is that there are many “right decisions” when put in a situation. Staff members are trained to make the best decision with the information they have at the time of an emergency. Something we stress to our students is, “Listen to the directions of the teacher.” While we want to educate our children on these important safety measures, we certainly do not want to create unnecessary worry or concerns.
Our top priority is the safety of our students. Emergency training is ongoing. Our Schroeder staff will continue to be trained on the best ways to keep us all safe. There is a record of all drills conducted at school listed on our website: https://schroeder.troy.k12.mi.us/public-safety-drills
Thank you,
Mrs. Keegan
Proud Principal of Schroeder Elementary

Important Yearbook Information!
Who gets a yearbook?
Schroeder yearbooks are handled by the same company that does our students' portraits, Kaiser Studio. If you previously purchased a picture package, a yearbook was included as part of the package. All other non-package purchases do not include a yearbook.
I didn't order a picture package. Can I order a yearbook?
Yes! A yearbook order form was sent home to all students who did not purchase a picture package. These order forms were labeled with the specific child's name, teacher, grade and a school ID code that would be needed for that specific child's online order. You may either order online using your child's specific school ID code found on the order form or you may pay by check or cash using the order form envelope. Please remember the office does not have cash to make change, so exact $12.00 cash amount is required. FORMS ARE DUE FEBRUARY 14TH!
What if I miss the February 14th due date?
There will be a very limited amount of yearbooks available for purchase at the end of the school year. They will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis for $15 cash (exact amount required).
