FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
As many of you know, the initial 2020-2021 Father John V. Doyle School Reopening Plan was released to families on Wednesday afternoon, and families met for a virtual town hall meeting yesterday evening. The plan in its entirety, as well as a brief synopsis document, is attached at the end of this letter. Thank you for your questions, comments, and insights at last night's meeting.
In an effort to provide additional dialogue regarding the reopening plan, we will be holding an additional town hall meeting this upcoming Wednesday evening, July 29th, beginning at 6:30pm. If you attended the town hall meeting this Thursday, you do not need to attend on Wednesday evening. The same material and information will be covered; however, we want to provide families who were unable to attend on Thursday an additional opportunity to review the plan and ask questions. The link and information to join the Zoom webinar invite will be sent to families at the start of next week.
Making the Transition to a One-to-One Model for Grades 2-8
As many of you know, we will be moving to a one-to-one tech model for our students in grades 2-8, with each student receiving a Chromebook for work both in the classroom and at home. This transition is well-aligned with our continued efforts to personalize the learning experience and further integrate technology into our classrooms.
If you are interested in purchasing a protective covering for your student's Chromebook, the Chromebook model being used is the HP Chromebook 11A G8 - Education Edition 11.6"

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
