Social Media Parental Controls
While there are so many great internet resources, please consider checking and restricting your child's access to social media. We have had an increased number of incidents at school that relate back to postings on social media. We really appreciate your continued support in ensuring our students' safety and wellbeing.
Here are some websites that explain how to set parental controls:

Carriage Elementary
7519 Carriage Dr, Citrus Heights
This family education series is designed by parents, for parents raising strong-willed children ages four to twelve years old. In this weekly course, participants do group learning activities to gain strategies to help your child maximize learning, address behavior challenges, and help create an environment that encourages positive choices. This series meets weekly on Wednesdays for ten sessions. Dinner is provided and child care assistance is available during the class.
Free Online Tutoring for Students
In partnership with the Sacramento Public Library, all San Juan Unified School District students have free access to all of the library’s digital resources, online tutoring, resources for school assignments and test prep and more.
Find out more here. The student code for the e-cards is SJ followed by their student id number. For example: SJ123456. The student’s four-digit PIN is the four-digit birth year listed in their academic records.
If families would like to opt out of this resource for their students, they can complete this form.
If you have any questions about this program, please contact Nicole Naditz, program specialist, instructional technology and world languages. You can also contact the Sacramento Public Library directly with questions by using the “Contact Us” link on the information page linked above

In late 2023, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) released new guidelines for what actions to take if a student is showing symptoms of an illness while at school. San Juan Unified has also updated its guidance to align more closely with that of CDPH. These updates include how to assess the severity of a student’s symptoms and what steps to take after deciding to send a student home. Click here to learn more.

Stay Informed!
Our teachers regularly send home newsletters either electronically or in print. Not only do they inform you about classroom events and activities, they are a great source of information to speak with your child about which helps avoid the "What did you do today at school?" "Nothing." conversation!
Our office staff will send out our newsletter, "The Carriage Connection," at least once a month on the last Friday of the month.
Of course, if you need any assistance or have any questions, please give us a call or stop in the office. We are here to help!
