Legacy Young Woman of the Month- January
Amisha Chandra is January’s Young Woman of the Month. Amisha’s charisma, kindness and talent does not go unnoticed here at LMA. She is a bright student with a passion for robotics. She has had the pleasure of leading one of Legacy’s competitive robotics team, 393A. Outside of school, she has been practicing Indian Classical Dance since before she could read and has no plans to stop. She hopes to study Mechanical Engineering at the college of her dreams. We are excited to see what the future holds for Amisha!
Ritesh Jina
My name is Ritesh Jina and I am currently a Legacy senior. I enjoy doing martial arts, learning new things, and drawing. My current post-high school plans are to attend a four-year university either in California or in Canada, and major in physics. My primary hope is to have a career in the STEM field, and my ultimate goal is to attend medical school, which is an interest I developed both inside and outside of school. In terms of colleges, a key factor for me was attending a school with a large student body. This is because I have never attended a school with lots of students, and I wanted to experience a new setting before entering a career. My dream college is UCLA, mainly because they provide a biophysics major, allowing me to earn a degree in physics while still learning enough biology to get into med school. At Legacy, I have been exposed to many different fields and topics. I want to take my knowledge of many skills here and transfer them to college and beyond, from graphic design to leadership and communication. Legacy has made me more comfortable with exploring new topics academically and outside of school, which is the most valuable thing I have learned here. While I am unsure about my future, I am going to take it one step at a time. I have always been excited to go to college, and even though nothing is certain, I know that I can keep pushing myself to do the best I can. In ten years, I hope to be out of college and working in the STEM field. I also hope that I’ve continued doing activities I enjoy right now, like drawing and some type of martial arts, as well as maintaining relationships from earlier parts of my life.
Catelyn Chen
Hi, my name is Catelyn Chen and I am one of your graduating seniors of 2024! A little bit about me, I’ve been a Legacy student since Freshman year, I’m the Chief Editor of the yearbook, and I played on the Tustin Volleyball team throughout high school. When I’m not at school or involved in my extracurricular activities, I enjoy traveling the world with my family, spending time with my friends, listening to music, and binge-watching Asian dramas. After graduating I plan to travel with my friends and family throughout the summer of 2024 and start my first semester of college during the fall of 2024. I will be attending one of the various UCs or Cal States that I applied to, studying psychology or sociology. I hope to earn a bachelor’s degree in one of these two majors and then figure out my future from there. I’ve never really had a dream college but I’ve always really admired UCSD and UCI. But, I’d truly be happy at any college that can best support my future and provide me with lots of opportunities. I’ve learned a good amount of real-life skills from Legacy, but what I’m going to take with me as I go into the future are the skills I’ve learned in the domain of professional and public speaking. I think that the Communications class taken during freshman year made a large impact on me and helped me improve my public speaking. In terms of my feelings for the future, I have a mixed set of emotions. I’m excited to take this next step in my educational career, but I’m also a bit scared to become an adult and start living independently. Overall, I’m feeling curious and hopeful. But excited for what's in store for me. If I could see myself in 10 years, I’d be graduated from college, working a stable full-time job maybe as a child psychologist, living in a cute apartment near my family, and making everlasting memories with my friends. I also see myself traveling and exploring the world some more.
Marcy Salinas
Hi I’m Marcy, a senior here at Legacy. I have been at Legacy for all four years. Some things I truly enjoy are good music, hanging out with close friends, and California weather. After high school, I plan on attending Cal State or UC, with IVC as a backup option. The summer after graduating, I also plan on exploring more of California and embracing what SoCal has to offer. While I don't have a dream college in mind, I believe I can have a good and complete college experience at the schools I've applied to. However, I prefer to be close to home or near the beach. I’ve applied to schools with majors in journalism or marine biology. I plan on attaining my degree in either and completing my education. As I graduate, I intend to apply numerous skills and lessons I acquired during my time here at Legacy, such as collaborating with others, building relationships, and actively seeking feedback and advice. I’ve also learned to value the quality of my friendships and influences. I'm feeling both nervous and excited as I approach my future after graduation. However, I'm ready to embrace the change and take on more responsibilities, as well as become more independent, while not losing the guidance of my parents and those who want the best for me. In 10 years, I hope to see myself with a stable job I truly enjoy, with enough time to spend with those I love and doing things that make me happy.
