Wiggin Street Parent Update
October 13, 2023
Better Together
Families,
This week we realized that we needed to change our walker dismissal routine to assure that all students safely get home. This was not due to any serious threat, but after hearing some concerns and observing the current practice, we realized that a change was needed. We are also working on making our stairways more safe for all and have been emphasizing that everyone needs to walk on the right hand side. Some students have received special brag tags from me for following the rules on the stairway.
We have a fun PBIS Reward Event scheduled for next Thursday. There will be extra recess with Kenyon athletes from 2:15-2:45 for those that earned 50 PBIS points! Check out the video below to learn more.
Lastly, there is no school next Friday, October 20th. Our teachers will be meeting for district professional development.
Hope you all have a great weekend,
Christy Grandstaff

Costumes should come to school in a bag and children should be able to get in and out of their costumes easily. (If you feel your child needs help with his/her costume, please contact the classroom teacher.) Please make sure that there are no scary costumes because of our younger students. There should be no Halloween masks. No pretend weapons of any kind are permitted at school even as a part of the costume. Please save those for trick-or-treat night.
We ask parents not to pass out treats along the route, however some of the local businesses may pass out candy to kids.

Morning Drop Off Safety Reminder
For those dropping off students in the morning, please do not get out of your vehicle. If your student needs assistance getting out of the vehicle, please pull off to the right side and walk them safely to the sidewalk.
Also, students are to walk in front of their car when exiting from the passenger side, so parents can watch for them. For this reason, please do not back up to go around a car. If you leave plenty of space between cars, you can go around if needed.
