October 2023

From the Desk of Ms. Ulloa
We are off to a good start in the E-TECH program! College classes have kicked off and are running smoothly. We currently offer 11 Dual Credit college courses on campus to our 9th and 10th graders. Our 11th and 12th graders are at the Richland campus taking their courses. In addition, many of our students are actively participating in extra-curricular activities. If your child is not engaged in an activity, we strongly encourage them to find something that intrigues them, as we know that being involved contributes to student growth and success!
This past week we had a super fun Homecoming. Our students engaged in spirit week dress out, a pep-rally, our yearly parade, the football game, and we finished out the week with the HOCO 2023 dance. We thank you all for coming out and supporting our Panther football team.
Next week is the end of Quarter 1, our Cycle 1. Please ensure that you check PowerSchool to see your student’s progress. Your child should be able to log into the college platform called BrightSpace and show you their progress in their college classes. I strongly encourage you to make it a habit to check those grades and PowerSchool on a weekly basis. Help your child monitor their own progress. We should be aiming for A-B Honor Roll. Let’s get it!
Uniforms are still a work in progress. Thank you to those parents who are making their students accountable to ensure their child wears the uniform on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It is a requirement of the E-TECH program to abide by the uniform expectations, and we appreciate those making their best efforts. Let’s continue to work to get 100% everyday! Note: The Richland College and Dallas ISD calendars don't always match up perfectly. 11th and 12th graders who go to Richland are expected to attend classes even when Dallas ISD is not in session on November 20-22. As Thanksgiving approaches, Mr. Huntington and Ms. Ulloa will share information about procedures and transportation for those dates.
