Family Update - 02/14/23

Dear Scott Families,

We hope you all had a fantastic weekend enjoying the beautiful weather! We're sure our students were out there having a blast, and that many of you were right there with them. We want to take a moment to thank you all for your unwavering support of our school. You're our biggest fans, and we couldn't do this without you! Let's cheer on our students as they tackle another week of learning and growing. Go Scott DL Panthers!

Here is some general information Valentines Day!

• Guests are allowed to attend parties! Doors will open at 3:00 pm Tuesday, February 14th.

• Parents should sign a check-out sheet for their child before leaving. Teachers will have check-out sheets ready in the classroom.

• Those who do not celebrate this date are invited to meet in the media center to participate in alternate activities. Please notify your child’s teacher if you would like them to participate in the alternative activity.

Our Panthers were surprised when the one and only Dr. Anderson, Superintendent of Topeka Public Schools, paid a spirited visit to our school! Dr. Anderson made a special stop to meet with some 4th and 5th graders and to hear their insights on what it takes to build a winning team, inspired by the KC Chiefs. Our students' responses showcased the strongest and most admirable traits that embody the true spirit of teamwork. We can't wait to see what our Panthers will achieve next!

Students celebrated the 100th day of school by imagining what they will be like when they are 100. 3rd Grade celebrated Disney’s 100th anniversary as well!

February 1st - March 10th - Fill out and SHARE our application for NEW Kindergarten students! Openings are available for the 2023-2024 school year at Scott Dual Language Magnet School (Kindergarten). Families will be notified of approval and placement the week of April 2.

Incoming PreK students - Fill out our interest form now and Pre K application once it opens in April.

Other grades - Fill out our interest form.

Miss Irlanda, our amazing school nurse, requests the following clothing and sizes for our school clinic:

• Boys' pants size 8 -10
• Girls' pants size 3 - 6
• Shoes, any kids' size.

Please donate only clean clothing. Thank you!

Our annual Major Saver campaign is in progress! This fundraiser supports the Topeka Public Schools Foundation, which provides educator grants, student scholarships, and emergency funding. Thank you for your continued support and participation! Bring your envelope to school on the following dates to win prizes!

Collection Dates:

• Monday, February 13

• Tuesday, February 14

• Wednesday, February 15 (LAST DAY!)

• Doors open and breakfast begins at 8:20 a.m.

• Instruction begins at 8:40 a.m.

• Late Start will be on Fridays

• Doors open at 9:10am

• Instruction begins at 9:30 a.m.

• PreK: Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m.

• K-5: Dismissal is at 3:40 p.m.

• Don't forget to check your student’s backpack daily!

• If you know that your child is going to be absent, please call the school at 785-235-7480.

• If you need to pick your child up early, please be advised that we will call them down to the office once you arrive at the school.

• If you need to change the way your child goes home, please call the office by 1:00 for us to have time to communicate those
