Below is a very helpful document that we ask every family to open and review as we prepare to take our iReady Winter Diagnostic Assessment in early December. Here are the main points.

1. Watch the video linked below.

2. Get Organized! Find a quiet space so your kids can be as distraction-free as possible.

3. Encourage and Motivate your child to simply do their best. There will be some questions that they will quickly know how to solve and some that are more difficult. That is the whole point of an adaptive assessment. It adjusts to their personalized progress as the assessment continues.

4. Support but DO NOT HELP! You wouldn't help your child say the letters on an eye exam poster, would you? It's the same thing, we want to know what they have learned, not what their parents know. :)

5. When they finish, celebrate their effort!

The diagnostic may take more than one sitting. That's ok. We want your child to do their best and take the time they need. Please do not rush them to finish. They can always complete it the following day.

Each Grade Level will be starting their Diagnostics (Reading and Math) on a different day. Your child's teacher will be notifying you of their start date.

Much of the very important detailed schedule information for your child will come directly from their teacher. Pay close attention to those emails so your child is ready for the start of Remote Learning starting Monday, November 30th. All students need to be logged in and present to start each day. It is vital that we establish healthy routines from the very beginning. If you need support or help in any way, don't ever hesitate to let your child's teacher know, call the school office, or email Mr. Jarot.

If your child will be absent from a remote learning day, please email the teacher and call the school office (331)228-3300, prior to the start of the school day.

Below you will find information about expectations, schedules, and specials during remote learning.

Student, Family, and Teacher Expectations

1. Elementary school hours will be between 8:00 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. Students are expected to be available and ready to learn during those hours, whether the learning is synchronous or asynchronous

2. As with in-person learning, students are expected to complete assigned work by the deadlines set by the teachers

3. We ask that parents allow students to work independently or in collaboration with their teacher and classmates as much as possible

4. Teachers will provide a weekly schedule that provides synchronous (Live) and asynchronous (a student working on their own) learning times.

Specials and Lunch

1. Students in grades 1-5 will have a 30-minute daily special (art, music, physical education and LRC). The remote special schedule will be the same as the in-person schedule, with lessons being both synchronous and asynchronous. The special teacher will share the schedule with the students.

2. Kindergarten students will continue to access 15-30 minutes of asynchronous specials each day.

3. Students will have a 40-minute lunch break on the same schedule as they had during in-person learning. Student lunchtimes are based on grade level so your children may have different lunchtimes.

1. If you need IT support, technical assistance, device exchange, etc. please click on IT Direct Support.

3. For information on Seesaw, Google Classroom, and/or Schoology, click on the Learning Platforms support.

4. For information on our video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Schoology Conferences, click on Video Conferencing Tools.

5. For support on any of the tools the teacher may use in the classroom, click on Digital Tools for Instruction.
