A message from the principal
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! Summer goes by so quickly, and we hope you were able to enjoy all of your favorite summertime activities. We spent the summer preparing for the school year and are very excited about all of the new changes this year. We welcome all students to Oxbow Creek and would like to extend a special welcome to our new students and families. We hope you love Oxbow Creek Elementary as much as we do.
We value the home and school connection and believe strongly that our partnership is a key part of student success. When you have questions about classroom related things, please reach out to your child's teacher directly. Our dedicated and skilled staff are eager to partner with you to provide the best possible support for your student.
Thank you for your support and cooperation as we all work to transition back into the routines of the school year. Know that we know it can be a challenging transition. We are here to support you and are excited to partner with you to make the 2023-2024 school year the best year yet!

Volunteer News
We are so excited to work with all of our amazing Oxbow Creek volunteers again this year! Thank you to those that have already helped in so many ways!
-Alece & Haley
Please fill out the forms to join our team of volunteers at Oxbow: Volunteer Application and Criminal Background Check Form.
Filling out these forms is the best way to hear about all the fun ways to volunteer at school! Please complete both forms before signing up for any of the volunteer opportunities listed below.
Click here to check all the ways you can get involved: Current Volunteer Opportunities
The PTO is hosting a fundraiser at the Brooklyn Park Cane’s Chicken on 610 & Zane Ave N on Monday, September 11th from 4-9pm! Dine in or order online (mention our fundraiser), and support our school! Thank you!
Make sure to check out our PTO Facebook page: Oxbow Creek Elementary PTO for upcoming events and school related information.
Field Trips: If you would like to potentially chaperone on a field trip, you must have your volunteer application forms filled out, preferably 2-3 weeks in advance. Do this as soon as possible as some grade levels already have some field trips coming up in October!
Our first PTO parent meeting is Tuesday, September 19th from 6:30-7:45pm in the Oxbow cafeteria. Meet your PTO board members, and hear from Mrs. Monson. Childcare is free for school aged children.
Other ways to help:
Please send in gently used clothing and new packages of underwear in various sizes to the health office. Additionally, the health office is looking for donations of the mini deodorants. Any donations are greatly appreciated!

Talent Development at Oxbow Creek
Please join us for our annual "TD Sampler" on Thursday, October 26, at 6:30pm!
During the sampler, we'll introduce and explain all the "extras" we offer for all our Oxbow students. If your student is highly talented in one specific area or has intense interest in another - you'll want to hear what we have to offer. We also have many programs that serve all Oxbow students. It's a full agenda that we think you'll find quite interesting. We especially want to welcome our new Oxbow families!

Items to Note
- Our school is once again partnering with Every Meal, a free weekend food program. All students were given an informational letter attached to an enrollment form on Friday, September 8. If you wish to participate, please fill out and turn those in as soon as possible!
- Be sure to sign up online for parent/teacher conferences with your child's homeroom teacher. Schedules are filling up quickly.
- If your child is a biker, please remember to equip him or her with a safety helmet and be sure to have them walk their bike when on school property.
- Notify the office at 763-506-3800 before 3pm if you need to change the dismissal plan for your student for the day. Also, if picking them up is a change in their normal dismissal, you will need to sign them out at the office.
- Do not leave your car unattended if you're in the pickup lane at dismissal. If you plan to leave your car to meet your child, please park in the lot. Students should always remain on the sidewalk areas while waiting for parents to pick them up.
- Picking up your student early? Please remember to call and notify the office of what time you will be here to pick your student up and also email your students teacher with that information. Our sign out procedure are the same as last year. You will come into the vestibule, where we will scan your drivers license and then send your student out to you.
- Dropping off items students forgot to bring? We will email the teacher, but will not call into the room during instruction time. If an item is for lunch or for winter recess, we will attempt to get those to the class if they are not picked up in a timely manner.
Save Receipts For Your Child's Education Expenses
Save Receipts for School Supplies! Minnesota Revenue offers two valuable tax benefits for parents who purchase school supplies for their K-12 students, the K-12 Education Credit and Subtraction. These benefits can reduce parents’ taxes to increase their refund but is only available for those who keep their receipts. Purchases for most school supplies, field trips, and musical instruments for school band are eligible. Most Minnesota parents qualify for the K-12 subtraction, which reduces their taxable income. Parents under certain income limits may also qualify for the K-12 credit, which can refund up to 75% of their costs – even for parents who don’t owe any taxes. Visit the Minnesota Revenue website for details. www.revenue.state.mn.us and enter K12 in the search box.
