COVID-19 Response
Springdale Schools Response for 20-21 School Year
Springdale Schools COVID-19 Response for positive cases during school
We are working to make sure your students are safe as we begin the 2020-2021 school year. The reality of the current pandemic means that there will likely be cases of COVID-19 in our school community. Please carefully read the information below about what will happen if someone at your student’s school tests positive for COVID-19 and what you should do if your student tests positive.
If your student tests positive for COVID-19, please notify the district by entering your information at go.sdale.org/COVID. Someone from the district will call you to get more information and give you directions for next steps. Please keep your student home until he or she is released by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). Usually, quarantine or isolation is 14 days. If your student is feeling well, he or she can work remotely while at home.
If someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19 or is identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please notify the district by entering your information at go.sdale.org/COVID. Someone from the district will call you to get more information and give you directions for next steps.
When the district receives notification that a student or staff member has tested positive, a district Point of Contact (POC) will gather information to report to ADH.
The district will work to identify Probable Close Contacts of the positive case. Probable Close Contacts are any people that were within 6 feet for 15 or more minutes of the positive regardless of if the person was wearing a face covering.
The district will call the Probable Close Contacts and let them know they need to stay home (except to receive medical care) until they receive information from ADH. Usually, quarantine or isolation lasts 14 days.
If your student is feeling well, he or she can do school work remotely while at home.
Probable close contacts will receive a call from an ADH contact tracer with additional information and next steps.
Your student’s principal will notify you of a positive case in your student’s school, but is not allowed to identify the person who is positive. The principal will notify you of any classroom or building closure.
If your student is waiting for results from a COVID-19 test, please keep them home until you receive the results.
If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Launder, Springdale School District School Nurse Supervisor and Lead Point of Contact at 479-750-8790 or klaunder@sdale.org.
Thank you for letting us serve your kids,
Jared Cleveland, Ed.D.
