Academy Reveals
Academy Reveals serve as a way to officially welcome the Freshman Academy students to their home for the next three years. Students meet with faculty members, get treats, and get to see which other students selected their academy/pathway.
Academy of Design & Engineering
- Mr. Ward, DE Academy Principal, greeted students and introduced them to Ms. Gallien, who facilitated a trivia game about topics related to the DE career pathways.
- Following the trivia game, Hanon Scoggins, a junior Academy Ambassador, spoke about what being in the DE Academy has meant to him. He listed several things he is now able to do as a result of being in the academy and the classes he has been able to take.
- After Hanon spoke, Mr. Ward read all of the names and the pathways of the new students to briefly recognize them.
- Finally, students signed a DE Class of 2026 banner and were treated to donuts in the DE Academy Common Area.

Academy of IB and Information Technology
- The event began with a welcome from Mrs. Majors, the IBIT Academy Principal. Mrs. Majors then introduced the IBIT Academy Ambassadors.
- The event was next handed over to the IBIT Ambassadors who introduced the Academy Staff.
- The event concluded as students had the opportunity to earn prizes by playing a Teacher Baby Picture game and enjoyed cupcakes.

Ambassador Applications are now open for 2023-24!
Application due Thursday, March 16th
The Academy Student Ambassador Program recruits, trains, and supports students who represent their various Academies. Ambassadors practice and improve their leadership skills through monthly training and networking with business partners. As leaders of their Academy, Ambassadors provide a student voice to support the growth and improvement of their Academy. Each career Academy has ambassadors from various grade levels.
Any student interested in becoming an Academy Ambassador for the 2023-24 school year will need to fill out an application by Thursday, March 16th. A committee will select students to interview and schedule the interview for the weeks of March 27th and/or April 10th.

Media Arts Guest Speaker
Media Arts Students
Students in Ms. Wilson's upper-level Media Arts classes will be visited by Maggie Davis from LEX 18 on Tuesday, February 21st. Maggie is a Producer and Multimedia Journalist for their nightly UK sports shows, BBN Tonight and BBN Gameday. She also covers special events like the Kentucky Derby for LEX 18 and ESPN.
Teaching & Learning Pathway Students at CTE Showcases

Mrs. Sewell and Senior Teaching & Learning Pathway Students
TCHS received a grant to showcase our Teaching and Learning pathways at two unique events.
- The first opportunity, in conjunction with Kentucky Student Organization Leadership Development (SOLD), will take place on February 21, 2023 at the Kentucky State Capitol, from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM EST. Students will meet Governor Beshear and Commissioner Glass. Displays will be set up around the mezzanine level for legislators, invited guests and the general public to tour the displays and speak with the students.
- A second opportunity for schools to share their displays will take place at Kentucky School Board Association (KSBA) on February 24th, from 11:00 AM - 5:00 EST at The Galt House Hotel in Louisville, KY.
ACT Prep

Dr. Tamara Bowles with BYF Consulting will conducting ACT prep for our current juniors.
- Dr. Bowles will have English, Math, Science, and Reading courses over the 2 day prep sessions.
- Students will be given all materials when they get in the cafeteria.
- Parents: Please encourage your child to eat breakfast on both days of the prep so that it may help with staying focused during this time. Also please remind your child of the importance of the ACT test and ACT prep sessions.
- It is important for students to participate on both days so that they can take full advantage of the courses.

UK College of Nursing Visiting MES Academy

Pre-Nursing Pathway Students
All Pre-Nursing pathways students in our MES Academy have been invited to attend a panel discussion facilitated by the UK START program. Corey Moore, the Assistant Dean for Academic Advising and Success at the UK College of Nursing, will be presenting on the dispositions and qualities that they look for in a nursing candidate. Moreover, current nursing student panelists will be present to talk about their experiences.
College Visits (9th), ACT (10th & 11th), Job Shadowing (12th)
- All of our Freshman Academy students will be visiting college campuses in Central Kentucky on Wednesday, March 8th. Past campus visits have included: University of Kentucky, Transylvania University, BCTC, Sullivan University, Centre College, Asbury University, Eastern Kentucky University, and Kentucky State University. Students will be assigned to a campus based upon their chosen career pathway and academy. All Freshman Academy staff and some members of the TCHS support staff will attend as chaperones.
- All 10th and 11th grade students will take the ACT (online) at school. We will not have classes on March 8th. Most students will be finished with testing around 12:15. Any student who would like to check out after testing will need to fill out this form.
- 12th grade students will have the opportunity to job shadow on March 8th. Students who would like to take advantage of this will need to fill out this form.
Please note: Technical School buses will not be running on this date. Schools are aware and do not expect students to attend their classes on March 8th.
