Message from Principal Blagg
Hello Parker Families,
It has been a fantastic week at Parker. The students have been working hard and learning to apply the skills they are learning. This application is crucial as it demonstrates true understanding of the skill. I have seen many of our students demonstrating empathy towards one another and looking to offer support when needed. This is how we build community. Our Student Council, under the direction of Meghan Colon and Shannon Merrill, helped to create holiday cards for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. We opened this up to the whole school and were flooded with wonderful cards written by our students. The messages were funny, caring, and full of joy. I am so proud of the empathy our students exhibit. we truly have fantastic kids here at Parker.
Second Step
We will be continuing our Social- Emotional learning curriculum this week. Our fifth grade students have finished their unit on emotion management and will begin a unit on Empathy and Kindness while the sixth grade will be continuing their work on Bullying and Harassment.
GRADE 5-Empathy and Kindness
In this lesson, your child will describe how empathy can help someone identify and solve a problem in their community.
Try This at Home
Point out something that has changed for the better in your neighborhood recently. Ask your child why they think that change is helpful. Point out how empathy might have helped someone decide to make that change.
Grade 6 - Bullying and Harassment
Students will continue to learn strategies and skills to combat bullying and harassment.
I hope that everyone has a fun filled weekend!
Warm Regards,
Josh
WINTER IS HERE!
Reminder to Parker Families - BRRR!!! Cold weather is rolling in....Parker students will still be going outside for recess/outside break. Please remember to BUNDLE UP, warm coats, hats and gloves are recommended.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS & ACTIVITIES & LATE BUSES
Our after-school programs will start on Tuesday, October 17th. The Activity Fee is $50 per student. PLEASE CLICK ON LINK My School Bucks or send in cash or check made payable to Chelmsford Public Schools and turn into your child's homeroom teacher. The activity fee allows students to take full advantage of any clubs they wish to attend. The after-school activities run from 2:40-3:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday throughout the year. Students also have the option of taking a late bus home. The routes are posted in the school and will not be posted publicly. We will work with students and the drivers to be sure students take the correct bus home. Since we only have 8 late buses, for both McCarthy and Parker the stops tend to be more spread out than the “regular” bus runs. After activities, students who are not taking a bus will exit the school into the Crooked Spring Road lot and can be picked up there.
