Mathematics Leadership Teams
The Mathematics Leadership Team focus during the past three years was very strategic - a deep understanding of the Common Core, creating quality math units/lessons, and experiencing research-based strategies for improving classroom instruction. We will continue this work into the upcoming school year. At each meeting, we focus on a different math domain/conceptual category from the Common Core.
Our Team Purpose: The Mathematics Leadership Team will participate in research-informed professional development experiences with the purpose of sustaining improved mathematics achievement.
The meetings will provide networking opportunities for members who serve as representative of their district.

Science Leadership Teams
With the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) being implemented, it is important that we come together to understand the expectations and create classroom experiences that both align with the standards and have the appropriate rigor for students.
Towards this end, workshops for Chemistry, Physics and Biology workshops are being planned. Physical Science teachers are welcome to attend both the Chemistry and Physics workshops. The same applies to Anatomy & Physiology, forensics, etc. teachers in regards to the Biology workshop.
If you have not had a chance to join the High School Science Group, please email me with the subjects that you teach. I would like hear your ideas. This will also allow me to gauge the interest in these types of meetings as we move forward.
In regards to Earth Science/Ecology etc., please feel free to attend the workshop you see fit. If you would like to discuss it, feel free to contact me.
Middle School/Junior High workshops and Elementary workshops will follow. I will be starting a MS/JH group and Elementary group. Please email me to join those groups.
The goal in these workshops will be to collaborate and lean on each other’s expertise in coming up with lessons that align with each of the standards and meet the three dimensions of NGSS.
My contact information is mpillay@geneseeisd.org or call me at 810-591-4470.
I look forward to working with all of you.
