This Week at Windsor...

Windsor Families,

Happy Friday! On Thursday, we practiced a lockdown drill. The students did a wonderful job following directions and procedures.

Next week Windsor will have our first spirit week of the school year! Please see the spirit week schedule below! Just a reminder that Tuesday is Picture Day.

Arrival/dismissal-

-Please remind your child that if they ride their bike to school, they will need to walk their bikes when on school property.

- Students are not permitted to play on the playground prior to school.

- There is no supervision prior to 8:50 am, please do not drop children off prior to 8:50 am.

- There are no pets allowed on school property during school hours, we have students with allergies and/or fear of animals. For the safety of all students, please do not bring pets to arrival/dismissal.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation with all of the above important procedures. We also recommend that you pass this information along to anyone that transports your child to and/or from school.

If your child will be absent or tardy, please call the main line and listen for the prompts, 847-398-4297. You can also complete this online form: CLICK HERE TO REPORT AN ABSENCE ONLINE. While you may also email the teacher, there are times that the teacher will not read email prior to school starting. Please always leave a message first. We cannot stress this enough. Please also make every effort for your child to arrive at school on time. Missing the beginning of the school day often has a negative impact on students for the rest of the day. Please contact the office if your child will be tardy or needs to leave early.

We hope that you will become a member of our very active PTA. We are extremely proud of the partnership that we have with the PTA and are so appreciative of all the work they do for Windsor School. The ABC/25 Foundation (http://abc25foundation.com/) is another way to become involved. The Foundation supports the schools within the district with both large and small grants each school year.

Hello, I’m Julie McCune and I work at Windsor as a Reading Interventionist. That means I have the opportunity to work with those students who need an extra dose of reading to bring it all together. It’s a great job! Before this position, I had the privilege to work as a special education teacher for 24 years…all in District 25. I received my bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Illinois State University and my certification as a Reading Specialist from Concordia River Forest.

My husband & I live in Arlington Heights & raised our 3 children here. They are grown now with children of their own; we have five grandchildren with one on the way. When I’m not working I enjoy reading and gardening. We are active in our church and enjoy camping and kayaking in the summers. I love it when the Blackhawks win, but I’ll keep watching even when they don’t.

My name is Patti Malinowski, and I am a Literacy Interventionist at Windsor. This is my 24th year teaching. I began my teaching career in District 25 at Westgate Elementary School, where I was an assistant in a multiage classroom. My journey led me to North Chicago to teach first grade for three years and then Lake Villa for three years. I joined the Windsor family in 2005, and have been teaching second grade until I landed my dream job as a reading teacher here for the past five years. I have a Bachelor’s degree from Clarke College in Elementary Education, as well as a Master’s Degree from Northeastern University as a Reading Specialist. I have endorsements in reading, language arts, social sciences and middle school.

When I am not at Windsor, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Brian, and I, live in Palatine and are proud parents to our son Guy (11) and our daughter Allie (8). We enjoy being together outside, exploring new parks, visiting the library, playing music, and playing board games.

My name is Courtney Fleaka and I am the Math Interventionist. This is my 4th year at Windsor and I feel so blessed to be working here! I taught 4th and 5th grade for 6 years in Crystal Lake and Des Plaines. After taking a break to raise my kids, I subbed for 6 years in Lake Zurich. I graduated from Eastern Illinois and I have a Masters Degree in Curriculum and instruction from Concordia University. I grew up in Arlington Heights and attended Prospect High School where I also coached Poms for 13 years.

I live in Kildeer with my husband and 3 children; Jacob is 19 and attends Mizzou, Jonathan is 17 and is a junior at Lake Zurich High School, and Ali is 13 and an 8th grader at Middle School South. I enjoy running with my husband, watching my middle child play basketball and baseball (he’s committed to play D1 baseball at UIC), and watching my daughter dance at her competitions through the Denise Sabala Dance Company or perform on stage in musicals. Life is busy!

Hello Windsor Families!

Just a reminder if you have outstanding health forms for your kindergartener or new students to Windsor–please get those in before October 15!

Illinois State Health Requirements and Forms for 2022-23 School Year

● All incoming Kindergartners and New to SD 25 students will need an updated Physical, Immunization record, and an Eye Exam by October 15,2022 AND Dental Exam by May 15,2023.

●Please reach out to me if you need guidance on the religious/medical exemption process regarding immunizations.

● All 2nd Grade students will need an updated Dental Exam by May 15, 2023

● If your child wears glasses, please have a new Eye Exam completed every two years.

Please pack a ziplock bag with a change of clothes for your child to keep in their backpack!

The health office is limited with the amount of clothing to borrow. Accidents can happen from Mud puddles and milk spills, etc. We know you don’t want to be called to bring clothes!
