Week in Review - Early Edition
Today marks the final day of the first trimester! We are officially one third of the way into the 2022-2023 school year. You might be asking yourself, why am I receiving the Falcon Flyer one day early? Doesn't it usually come out on Friday? Yes, and tomorrow is a school holiday, Veteran's Day. To all of our Falcon families who served or with extended family who served, thank you for your sacrifice to ensure the freedoms we experience here in the United States.
This week was short and sweet. Students enjoyed Visual and Performing Arts lessons on Monday while our expert teaching crew collaborated on best practices for assessing student writing. The goal was for alignment across the school in how and what students should know and when. Today and yesterday, teachers had the afternoon to complete Trimester One report cards. Next week, every day is a MINIMUM DAY. Student conferences will take place in the afternoon. The following week is Fall Recess. Classes will not be in session from the 21st-25th. School resumes on November 28th.
Trimester 1 Report Cards
Can you believe the end of the Trimester is TODAY? Hard copies of report cards will be sent home during student conference week, but you can take a look online ahead of time starting November 11th. See the link below for a video tutorial of how to set up a PowerSchool Parent Portal account.
Staying Healthy
You may have seen in the news that Influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) have been on the rise lately in schools across San Diego County. This week at Fletcher, we had an above average number of students go home ill. At this point we don't have information indicating that these illnesses are COVID related, thankfully. However, it is always wise to review important suggestions for staying healthy with your students. Please see the flyer attached below. In two weeks, on October 28th we will also be hosting a Flu/COVID vaccination clinic on campus after school. Flu vaccinations, Monkeypox, and bivalent COVID booster vaccinations will all be available for free on a walk-in basis. If you need a COVID test, we have them available at the front office for free.
Our Student of the Week for is Karely in Mrs. Quaal's 3rd Grade Class. Karely is a student who is always trying her best and working on improving. She has been showing a lot of growth in class and in small groups. She is so sweet and caring towards others and has a kind heart. Karely is a great student, friend, and role model. Way to go, Karely! Thank you for being a phenomenal Falcon!
Sign Up for Weekly COVID Testing on Campus
Weekly voluntary COVID screenings resumed this week and will continue to take place weekly on Monday mornings. The more students we have signed up for the screenings, the sooner we can identify symptomatic and asymptomatic cases to reduce community spread.
