Dear Bancroft Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Bancroft Elementary. We are all eager to begin what promises to be a fantastic year. This year is going to be incredible as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students and parents - are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.
As the demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes more evident that we all need to work together to ensure that our children reach their potential. We believe that all of us – the school and the community – must work together in an extended family environment to ensure success for all of our students. We believe it is everyone’s responsibility to empower children with the creative, intellectual, and decision-making skills necessary for them to become academically, socially, physically, and emotionally successful and responsible. With that in mind, you are invited to be an active participant at Bancroft Elementary. Whether you are a classroom volunteer, a member of the PFC, participate in special events, or are a member of one of our school communities, you are encouraged to be involved! Research on schools clearly demonstrates that parent participation in their child’s school coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success for their child.
Kinder Back to School Night will be held on Tuesday, August 8th from 6:00-7:00 PM. 1st-5th Back to School Night will be on Tuesday, August 15th. You will be able to meet your child's teacher and learn all about their new class. Please leave children at home; Back to School Night is an adult-only event.
We can't wait to see you!
Mrs. Dunn
Step 1: Data Verification
PLEASE REMEMBER TO COMPLETE STEP 1 if you haven't already done so:
Complete MDUSD’s Data Verification process via your parent HomeLink account--available beginning 8/1/23. You must use a parent Homelink account to complete the data verification, NOT a student account.
Confirmation of Data Verification--completed via Homelink. The district needs current emails, updated emergency contacts with current phone numbers, and current medical information for your child. Accurate data is vital for your child's safety. If you have any questions related to online registration, please contact the main office at (925) 933-3405.
- Helpful tidbit - during data confirmation you will be asked if we can take pictures of your child at school. If you answer no, we will be able to include your child's picture in the yearbook but will not be able to include them in anything we send out in newsletters, parent square, instagram, or twitter.
If you have an incoming new student to the site, you will need to verify residency at the MDUSD Enrollment Center. All students who will be attending Bancroft for the first time or returning to Bancroft after an enrollment in another school must provide three forms of documentation to verify residency for the school. Click here for further information on residency verification.

Step 3: School & District Communication: All classroom, school, and district communications will be done through Parent Square.
Register for Parent Square to receive all communication from the school site. You can download the app through the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
- Click here to register your Parent Square account. (What is Parent Square?)
- If you do not download the app you will still receive emails from Parent Square but will not be able to send and receive messages from your child's teacher.
Step 4: Bancroft Elementary & PFC Support
The PFC will be using Konstella for Parent communication If you have not created your Konstella account please watch your email for your invitation to join.
Being a PFC member allows for various opportunities to support your child’s school at the level and time commitment that works best for you! No obligation, strictly volunteer and gives you a voice to vote on important PFC school decisions ••
Step 5: Did I forget anything?
School Lunch
Lunch is available to all students to eat at no cost for the 2023-2024 school year. Visit MDUSD’s food services here for more information.
Medication on Campus
- No medication, including over-the-counter medications will be administered to students at school. If your child must take medication at school please print and have your doctor fill out an “Authorization of Administer Medication During School Hours” form. Click here to access this form.
