Background Checks
District Office has instructed us that since there is no student contact, background checks are no longer needed for Community School activities. So when we get it up and running, you will not need to complete the check for walking/work-out, tot time, or volleyball!
However, if you are a parent and wish to accompany your child on a field trip (whether or not you are driving a student other than your own), you must complete a background check. To complete the process, please click here: https://kpbsd.org/departments/assistant-superintendent/instructional-services/hr/volunteer/

Hope School Happenings
It has been a great start to this school year. Our students are taking their MAPS testing this week and doing a great job. I would like to share something with each of you. Our elementary school students have done such a wonderful job of welcoming our new kindergarten students. Most people do not realize how grown up children can be as they set good examples for the younger students. However, it is such a heart filled thing to watch as they lead the way for the little ones. We are not short on kindness in Mr. McKibben's room at all this year.
We do have some parents that are in processing line to become volunteers. It takes to complete all of the necessary steps at our central office for approval. I encourage each of you to take the time to sign up online. The link is included below to the volunteer/employment page. If you are ever in need of a computer to use to complete your online application, please see me at the front desk and I will happy to provide you with a laptop to use. We definitely want you here. Also, please consider being a substitute teacher, custodian or secretary.
Thank you all for making sure the children have proper winter gear. I realize there are students who still do not quite have what they need. The rainboots really are needed this time of year. Honestly, this year has been a bit on the wet side all summer.
We are still discussing the field trip. Ms. Dawn has been emailing all of you. Ms. Dawn and our teachers would like you to all attend the Field Trip Meeting coming up. It is tentatively scheduled for September 11th, right after school lets out at 3:30. If you have questions, this is an opportunity for you to ask them. Please come and make sure you get all of your questions answered.
A PTO meeting may be in the works soon. We encourage all parents to become new members and join in.
Important Dates:
September 5-7: MAPS Testing
September 8th: Early Release-students leave at 2:00
September 11th: Field Trip Meeting after school at 3:30 (tentative)
September 27th - September 29th: Field Trip to Kasitsna Bay Ecology Laboratory
Friday 9-29: Early Release- students released at 2:00
