Daylight Savings Reminder
Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour starting this Sunday, November 7th. Here are some helpful tips to prepare your child for the time change.
Get as much sunlight a few days before. This helps your student sleep at night.
Move bedtime up a little bit on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday by 15 minutes in preparation for Monday.
Keep your bedtime routines the same.
Keep your child’s room very dark. Sometimes falling back an hour can make it brighter in the bedroom. Cover windows with curtains or blankets if it helps.
Empower
Teachers and students are actively engaging in the following modules until mid-November.
Kindergarten and 1st graders are currently in the Make it to the End module.
Second graders are in the Make it Move module
Third graders are currently in the Get on Board module.
Fourth and Fifth graders are currently in the Light it Up module.

Davis Drop Off Lane Reminders
Here are just a few friendly reminders for using the drop off lane on Seventh Street. We have had some backups in the drop off lane that block the busses.
Please remember to pull all the way up to the front.
Be sure to pull up to the next car to avoid gaps.
Be sure to have your child exit curbside. We have staff available to help your child out of the car with their belongings.
From the Nurse
Dental Examination Requirements
Students in kindergarten, second, sixth and ninth grades must submit evidence of a dental examination by May 15th of that school year. Dental exams must be completed within 18 months prior to May 15th.
Vision Examination Requirements
Students entering Illinois schools for the 1st time (kindergarten or transfer) must submit evidence of a vision exam conducted by a physician who provides a complete eye exam or a licensed optometrist.
If you have not submitted a vision examination form for your Kindergartener or if your student is entering an Illinois school for the first time, please make your appointment today. If your child has already been seen for a vision exam within one year of the first day of school (8/11/21) or had a dental exam within 18 months from the first day of school (8/11/21), you can ask the eye doctor or dentist to complete the required form for the school. Forms are linked above. If you need any assistance or have questions, please contact the Davis nurse, Peggy Faught at (331) 228-2204 or peggy.faught@d303.org.
Extra Clothes
From the health office: A change of clothing is a good idea to keep in your child’s backpack in case of bladder or bowel accidents, nosebleeds, lunch spills, etc. Our health office has loaned out a lot of clothing that has not been returned. If your child has borrowed clothing from the health office, please return it so we have clothing available if another child needs it. If you have clean extra clothing you can donate for students, it would be much appreciated by our health office. Sweats and shirts for both boys and girls and also leggings for girls would be helpful. We are also in need of new underwear for boys and girls.

Lost and Found
Our lost and found is growing. If you noticed an item of your child is missing - encourage them to check out the lost and found on the way to their lunch.
Masks
We are running low on our stash of masks. We ask that students please bring their own mask to school each day. We appreciate your cooperation.
Cold Weather
The weather is getting colder, please be sure to send your child with warm gear. They do go outside if the weather is above zero degrees. They also take a mask break during the day outside, when weather permits.
Pets
Just a reminder that on school property during school hours and arrival/dismissal we cannot have pets. If you pick up your child with your pet, please have a meeting place off school grounds. Thank you for your cooperation!
