Presidents' Update
Dear MTA families!
One of the best ways to be engaged in our MTA community is to connect with other parents/families and take part in school initiatives. If you have any questions about to how to be more plugged in to the MTA community, please reach out.
Here is what is happening now:
Fall Fundraiser: Fun Run
- We are SO CLOSE to our $80,000 goal!
- Mr. Merrill has said *when* we reach our goal, the students get a free dress day!!! Say what?!?!
- We have raised almost $60k so far and have 5 more days to get to our goal!
- Please sign up, share and help us reach our goal!!
- All grades with over 80% participation will receive a special treat from the Guild. Participation = parents simply signing up via the link and sending out 10 emails.
2. Send 10 emails to friends, family, neighbors, etc.
3. Donations can be made via the online link, or via cash or check as well.
This takes only minutes to complete! Checkout the Golden Ticket packet and the additional info. attachments below this post!
Last day to donate is 11/3.

Guild Meeting
- Our next Guild meeting is 11/13 at 6:30 pm in the MTA cafeteria. This Guild Meeting will be a two hour volunteer opportunity so you won’t want to miss it!
- We will have our regular Guild meeting followed by a Q&A session re: campus security with Lori Garvey (Deputy Superintendent) and Jose Almeida (Maintenance Supervisor) from the District Office.
- 7 pm: Not My Kid Presentation focusing on Teen Mental Health - Anxiety/Stress. This is the second of a four part series we have planned this year. There is a presentation for the parents during the Guild meeting and then one for the 8th grade students the following day at school.
Membership Drive
- Please join the MTA Guild at any level, and show your support for all the initiatives we provide our school, students, teachers and staff.
- The Guild helps fund and plan annual events like the ArtWalk, Parent Social and Sweetheart Dance, purchases specialized air filters for each classroom, funds the Owl-Star assemblies + awards, gives our teachers a $100 check to help fund their back to school needs and funds our Specials programs (Art, Music and P.E.) with equipment, supplies and so much more.

Raptor
- Thank you for your patience with Raptor. The hours are being logged in the system even though most people are unable to see them in their accounts. If you received an email regarding your hours in error, send us a message.
- We strongly suggest you keep a log (ex: Notes app in your phone) of your hours should there be a discrepancy.
- As soon as we hear the issue has been resolved, we will let you know!

- Book Fair is this week!
- Socktober fundraiser ends on 10/31. There are great deals on Amazon to get us to our goal! (Ex: https://amzn.to/3QCaFBu (https://amzn.to/3QCaFBu)) collection boxes are in the front office.
- Are you a photographer? We need help at some upcoming events - would credit volunteer hours. Please message us!
- If you forgot school picture day, retakes are 11/2. 😉
- Donate your sneakers - all sizes, all kinds! Please drop off in the donation bins in the Front Office. We are collecting all year long!
- Owl store donations - keep them coming! Donate items for the Owl Store in the Front Office. Thank you for all those who have donated!
- If you have extra baskets, cute containers, any holiday decor, etc. please consider donating to the Guild. We are looking for things to spice up the teacher lounge when we put out treats, etc. Message Sara (917-861-5975) with any questions. 😉

Fall Sports
Come out and support your owls. Girls and boys soccer & girls JV and Varsity volleyball made it into the VAC playoffs! Girls volleyball and boys soccer are continuing next week deeper into the playoffs. Let's go, Owls!
Fun Run by Step It Up (click here)
- Our Fun Run by Step It Up got off to an amazing start today with an inspiring kick-off. Thank you to our students for being such a great audience!
- Our next step is to ask each of you to take action TONIGHT by clicking the link below. It will take you to our school’s fundraiser website where you can set up your child’s Personal Donation page and invite your friends and family to join our efforts to help our school!
We need your help to raise money for:
- The Guild school year activities including Owl Star Assemblies, Spring Carnival, and the 7-8th grade dance.
- Upcoming Campus Enhancement projects
- Concession appliances such as Snow cone & cotton candy machines for future school events.
This entire fundraiser can be completed in TEN MINUTES OR LESS.
Please send out TEN or MORE emails via your Personal Donation Page and your child will qualify for the Golden Ticket prizes and drawings! Have your child return their completed Golden Ticket to school TOMORROW to be part of the fun!
Parents, you MUST write in the Completion Code Number on your students Golden Ticket for them to earn the prizes tomorrow. NO exceptions!

- It's time to order a yearbook for the 2023-2024 school year to guarantee your memories! They are only $22 - All sales are online.
- Do you want to send a special message in the yearbook for your student? It's only $5 extra per Happy Hoot (click on the ad and follow the directions).
- Please go to buytheyearbook.com to order your yearbook and buy a Happy Hoot to be included. All ONLINE yearbook and happy hoots orders will close MARCH 8th, 2024. (In person cash sales will be available in May if you miss the online deadline for $25 - first come, first served. Supply is limited!)

MTA Buy / Sell Facebook Group
We have created an MTA Buy / Sell Facebook group! This new page is for our community to share things to buy, sell, donate, etc. from uniforms, to books, sports equipment and more! Join here
While we fully support people selling their uniforms, also keep in mind the Guild has a Uniform Exchange Committee and all proceeds go directly back to the school. You can drop off your clothing in the front office.
The Uniform Exchange will be selling uniforms at each monthly Guild meeting this year so come check it out!

Dads Club Scholarship Fund
- The MTA Guild Executive Board earmarked $1,000 for the Dads Club Scholarship Fund for the '23-'24 annual budget.
- If your family requires assistance with expenses ex: activity fees, sports equipment, or expenses associated with field trips/class trips, you can make a confidential request to: mtascholarships@gmail.com
- If approved, the Scholarship Committee with work with the Guild Treasurer to arrange for the payment of school-related expenses, or to reimburse.
Ongoing GotSneakers Fundraiser:
- 👟 ♻️ Our sneaker drive is now ongoing, all year long- simply drop off your sneakers (in any condition) to the front office.
- Can be men/women/kids shoes
- Make sure to share with family, friends + neighbors so we can recycle + fundraise for a good cause.
