Good morning Fulton Families,
As the tragic events continue to unfold and escalate in the Middle East, our thoughts are with all of those impacted. At FES, and HCPSS, we are committed to ensuring that our school provides a safe and nurturing environment for our students and staff. If you would your child to speak to a school counselor, please reach out to Mrs. Shields or Dr. Burks.
Last week our kindergartners visited our PTA's pumpkin patch and decorated their pumpkins before bringing them home. Check out some of our youngest designers!
Warmly,
Dr. Burks, Mrs. Liwosz, & Mrs. Sillers
Digital Citizenship Week - October 16-20, 2023
We are excited to announce the upcoming Digital Citizenship Week 2023 (October 16-20). This initiative aims at promoting responsible and safe online behavior among our students. In today's digital age, our students must develop the skills and awareness necessary to navigate the online world confidently. One critical improvement point is balancing screen time and offline activities. Encourage your children to set limits on their screen time, engage in physical activities, and enjoy face-to-face interactions with friends and family. Use conversation starters like, "What's your favorite non-screen activity?" or "Tell me about a positive online experience you had recently." Additionally, explore resources such as Common Sense Media's Family Media Agreement and ConnectSafely.org for valuable tips and guidelines to help create a healthy digital environment at home.

Worth Repeating
PTA's Annual Pumpkin Patch
Last week, 1st and 5th grade visited our PTA pumpkin patch. Tomorrow, 2nd and Kindergarten will visit. This has become an annual FES tradition- during the month of October our PTA creates a pumpkin patch where students explore the patch for the pumpkin that is just right for them. Last week, I saw 5th graders just as excited as the 1st graders to find their pumpkin. While some looked for larger ones, others looked for small ones. Some grade levels will send these home the day of the pumpkin patch and other grades will hold onto them for a little fall fun. Be sure to check in with your child to see when they are visiting the pumpkin patch.
Schedule:
10.10: Kindergarten & 2nd Grade
10.16: 3rd Grade
10.23: RECC & 4th Grade
SOCKTOBER
First week of Socktober update- 45 pairs of socks were received! Thank you for your donations! 2nd grade has the most generosity so far with the most pairs of socks donated! Great work, 2nd graders! Thank you to the SGA students who collect and count the socks. Keep sending in those donations, Fulton Falcons!
If you ave any questions, please reach out to Ms. Jillian O'Brien.
FLU/Covid Clinic Information
Each year, the Howard County Public School System partners with the Maryland Partnership for Prevention to bring flu immunizations into our schools for students. This year, they will also be offering the latest Covid vaccine. The clinic at Fulton Elementary School will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 during school hours. If you would like your child to be vaccinated against the flu and/or Covid at this clinic, please register at this link: https://www.marylandvax.org/appointment/en/reg/0517562392. You are not required to provide your child’s insurance information. It is perfectly fine to receive both vaccines on the same day.
If you have any concerns about the new Covid vaccine, you are advised to speak with your child’s pediatrician. All in-school clinics will be closed to registration one week before the clinic date to allow our health room staff time to review and prepare the consents and make sure enough vaccine is ordered. If you have any questions, please call your school’s health room at 410-880-5966.
