Region One Counselor Newsletter
June/July 2022 Summer Edition
Hello Summer!
We hope this summer you take time to relax, recharge, and replenish.
As always, we thank you for your service to education and for the tremendous impact you make on your students.
We wish everyone a happy, healthy and restful summer!
Your Region One Counseling Team
Staying active over the break is beneficial for personal growth. Summer gives our youth the chance to step away from their desk and discover new interests. Research shows that “through play, [children] can experiment, solve problems, think creatively, cooperate with others,” which, in turn, allows them to “gain a deeper knowledge about his/herself and the world” (Bento et al. 2017).
Finding ideas to keep your youth engaged can be difficult. Texas Youth Action Network (TYAN) can help. They have compiled a list of activities across the state that are available this summer. With activities focusing on art, nature, science, and more, these ideas are accessible for youth and mentors in every corner of Texas!
