We are grateful for all of you! Thank you for sharing your students with us each day and the support that you give our teachers that work tirelessly to meet all student's needs each day. Hopefully this holiday brings you joy as you spend more time as a family.

Wiggin Street will be participating in the annual Food for the Hungry drive from November 13-17. Each class will have a collection box. Students can contribute non-perishable food or monetary donations. The winning class with the highest average total will win 5 medium pizzas delivered by Domino's! The ultimate prize is the feeling you get when you give to those in need. What a great way to show respect and kindness to others.

Food for the Hungry will be picked up on Monday this week. There are still lots of opportunities to donate to local pantries, and this Knox Pages article talks about the benefits of providing healthy donations to our local pantries.

With heart disease being the leading cause of mortality within our county, the Knox County Local Food Council created a Healthy Donations List that helps families know what to donate that doesn’t cost more but will be a healthier choice.

Make sure to save the date! Mrs. Springer has been preparing our students for their Winter Program, and you won't want to miss it. The flyer provided below gives all the information needed.

Please remember that students will go outside on days where the temperature with wind chill accounted for is 20°f and above. Be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Coats, hats, and gloves are necessary at this time of the year. Boots are required for playing in the snow. If you need assistance with winter outerwear for your child, please contact our school, and we will happily find warm clothes for them.

Don't forget to complete the School Culture Survey!

We are hoping to plan a celebration of cultures for near the end of the school year. This would be during the school day. To help with planning, we would appreciate family members filling out this School Culture Survey, so that the event is representative of the student body and their families.

Friends of Wiggin Street School (FOWS) would like to inform parents of an easy way to earn cash-back rewards for the school. Below are instructions provided by Kroger on how to sign-up for their charitable rewards program.

Please remind your student to get their sweatshirts and jackets from lost and found. You can also submit this form to let us know what you are looking for, and we will do our best to get it to your child.

Remember that it is helpful to label all jackets, lunchboxes, bookbags. Donations will be made over winter break, so please remind your child to check out the Lost and Found.

Eve, Haleigh, and Sarah created this video for students to learn more about this quarter's PBIS Reward Event with Outback Ray. This event is the afternoon of January 19th, and students need 50 PBIS points to attend. We hope all students can attend!

For those dropping off students in the morning, please do not get out of your vehicle. If your student needs assistance getting out of the vehicle, please pull off to the right side and walk them safely to the sidewalk.

Also, students are to walk in front of their car when exiting from the passenger side, so parents can watch for them. For this reason, please do not back up to go around a car. If you leave plenty of space between cars, you can go around if needed.

This is for the safety of all students, so that no one gets injured. Thank you!

For pick up, please do not arrive until 3:30. There is no stopping, standing, or parking on E. Brooklyn St. allowed. Also, please reminder that our school is an Idle-free Zone. Protect our children and the community by turning off your engine.
