Norma Coombs Elementary School
Beginning of the Year Information
Welcome to the2023-2024 School Year
Dear Norma Coombs Elementary Families,
It is with great pleasure that I take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about my appointment as Principal at Norma Coombs Elementary School. I am excited to to be part of our school community. Our students, parents and staff members have worked tirelessly to create a school culture that is focused on nurturing well-rounded and academically successful students. It is my intention to continue to support the traditions and practices of our school.
Throughout my career as an educator, I have maintained a focus on my own professional growth. I have earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Cal Poly Pomona. I started my career teaching 4th grade at Franklin Elementary in Pasadena. I was also a Curriculum Resource teacher in which I support and coached teachers in the classroom. After Franklin I taught grades 6-8 at Washington Middle School (now Octavia Butler). Then I became Assistant Principal at Washington before going to Pasadena High School where I was an Assistant Principal in all of the various departments for the past six years.
I have thoroughly enjoyed each position I have held and I believe that these opportunities have laid the foundation for my position as principal.
I am excited to continue our educational journey here at Norma Coombs surrounded by wonderful people and practices that have helped us achieve schoolwide success. I truly believe I am fortunate to have been selected as your Principal and to continue our work in this dynamic learning environment.

Join Our PTA
Welcome back to our returning families, teachers and staff and a great big welcome to our Kindergarten and new families! My name is Jeanine Legaspi and I am your 2022-23 PTA President.
Join our PTA Here
Our PTA is very excited to start the new school year and we have planned several fun activities. We are also proud to continue our support of our wonderful educators.
To ensure we can keepa large impactful OTA membership for the 2022-2023 school year, we are kicking off the school year with our annual PTA Membership Drive. I encourage you all to renew or start a new membership for only $9 per person.
In addition to keeping Norma Coombs strong, our membership gives you a voice at PTA meetings, discounts at various businesses, and - most importantly - you are supporting the oldest and largest child advocacy organization in the U.S.!
While becoming a PTA member does not mean you are expected to volunteer, everyone’s participation is essential to maintaining our special Norma Coombs community, so we hope you will consider becoming involved in at least one event or activity throughout the year. Many parents feel they cannot participate in the PTA because of language barriers or they cannot be available during the day because of work - please don’t let that discourage you! Whether you have 30 minutes or a few hours, your time, your ideas, your talents, and your voice are truly needed and appreciated. There are endless possibilities for family members to contribute, and we can match any time constraints and abilities to needed tasks.
