At the Creek....
September 9th, 2022
Hello from Rabbit Creek!
We have finished another fun week at "the Creek" that included getting to see many parents in the building for our Open House. We will hold another event on Monday the 12th from 3:00-4:00. We hope that you can stop by for a few minutes or the full hour to say hello, see students at work in classrooms and learn about class routines.
We have busing at Rabbit Creek for the first time this year starting on Monday, with route number 76 being in Cohort 2. From September 12th through the 30th, those on this route will have the chance to ride to and from school on the bus. Information is available below to help you find your bus route. Students on bus 76 received a card at school today to let them know they could start riding on Monday. Also attached below for your viewing is the expectations for bus riders from our Elementary Student Handbook. Please take a few minutes to review this with your students who ride the bus.
We finished Fall Benchmark assessments today for students in grades K-6. This information will allow us to begin our WIN block starting the week of September 19th in grades 2-6. Family members can access data through checking in with teachers. This will also be shared at Parent Teacher conferences in October.
I've met with many classes, and will visit the others next week, to talk about student Rights and Responsibilities at school from the Elementary Student Handbook. We discussed how all students are responsible for following rules to ensure that others can learn at school, which is their right. When talking with classes about 'The Golden Rule," I was surprised to hear that many students did not know what this was. I dated myself, that's for sure. Treating others the way one wants to be treated is a key to making every school day the best possible for each student and staff member. Often times children do not think about the impact of their actions upon others or how they would feel if the roles were reversed. It would be wonderful if our families took a few minutes to talk with our students about this expectation as a follow up to our conversations. Imagine a school where everyone treated one another kindly, kept hands to themselves and spoke positively in all settings.....what a place that would be!!
If you haven't had a chance to connect with our teachers, both returning and new, I hope you do soon. They're an incredible group of people and we're fortunate to have them teaching our students. And-we are fortunate to have an incredible group of students who we get to share our days with.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Peterson

From your PTA....
Hello Rabbit Creek Families!
It’s hard to believe that we are into September already! The leaves are slowly beginning to change colors and fall is in the air. Gosh it is so wonderful to have the school year feeling like normal again, pre-COVID! Woo hoo.
Thank you to all those that attended our first PTA meeting last month. Our next meeting is soon–next Tuesday September 13th at 7pm in the RC library.
We have been busy planning here at RC. Our annual Jogathon fundraiser (“Rocking the Wild”) will be held in a few weeks, on September 23rd. The information regarding this fun event will be going home this week. Fundraising is completely optional, but 100% of the money raised goes back into RC activities and equipment we need.
PTA will need lots of volunteers for the Jogathon as well as other activities hosted by RC. Remember every parent or family member who wants to participate in any school event, must be vetted BEFORE the event. Please visit www.asdk12.com. Then click on families. Next scroll down and click on family involvement. Click on volunteer at ASD. Finally, scroll down and click on online application and waiver. Please complete the Google form and hit submit. This application process only takes a few minutes and it ensures that all adults that are working with the children have had a background check. Please allow up to 5-7 business days for your application to be processed by ASD.
School pictures with Lifetouch will be held on September 28th and information on this event will be coming home soon. Class pictures will be occurring this year.

First grade learning is fun!
1st graders learning about ten frames . We learned how to make equations with them, how to tell if they are even or odd number and how to count by 5’s. The first graders had great discussions about how and why they figured out their answers and shared it with their friends.
