TO GIVE IS TO RECEIVE
Respect is an attitude of caring about people and treating them with dignity. Respect is valuing ourselves and others. We show respect by speaking and acting with courtesy.
A PRAYER FOR HOPE
I am your humble servant,
I come before you today in need of hope.
There are times when I feel helpless,
There are times when I feel weak.
I pray for hope.
I need hope for a better future.
I need hope for a better life.
I need hope for love and kindness.
Some say that the sky is at it's
darkest just before the light.
I pray that this is true, for all seems dark.
I need your light, Lord, in every way.
I pray to be filled with your light from
head to toe. To bask in your glory.
To know that all is right in the world,
as you have planned, and as you want
it to be.
Help me to walk in your light, and live
my life in faith and glory.
In your name I pray,
Amen.
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents and Carers,
I attended assembly this morning and the Year 2 class provided a wonderful message of how we can change the world through persuasive writing. Rachel and Edrick shared their writing with us. Edrick spoke about the need for more play to recharge our brains for learning! Great idea, Edrik. We provide extra brain breaks during the day for this very reason. Rachel shared her message about kindness, which I have included below.
Why you should use kind words in the playground
It is very important to always use kind words and actions in the playground. Being kind makes people feel accepted and happy, helping you make friends because you are an easy person to be around.
Firstly, you must agree that kind words makes people feel happy and accepted. Kind words soften the heart and helps you make friends. When you say kind words to someone they say kind words back to you. Giving compliments and praise during games makes people feel good and builds team spirit.
Secondly, in my opinion, kind actions are helpful and make you powerful to make the world (and playground) a better place. By being kind you can make other people's day by just smiling or by giving them a helping hand.
Finally, it is clear that mean words hurt everyone's feelings so you need to use kind words in the playground so you don't hurt their feelings. If you have a problem with someone, you can use 'straight talk' to help solve the problem by saying exactly what the problem is, but still using kind words and being respectful.
For all these reasons you must agree, that being kind is extremely important. So you must be kind in your words and actions to everyone in the playground.

HOLY COMMUNION
Please keep the Year 4 children in your prayers over the weekend as they receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time. Miss Power, Mrs Tormay and Mrs DeBoni have prepared them so well for this special time in their life. Today the children completed the final act in preparation by engaging in the Rite of Reconciliation with Father Thai and Father Anthony. God bless you all and your families as you celebrate together.

What a super day the Orana community has experienced today. Anya and her team have been working away all day with classes visiting to witness this magical artwork come to life. This could not have happened without the perseverance and dedication of Bronwyn Mattock. Bronwyn has been the driving force behind this P&F initiative and the school is so grateful to her and the P&F in funding this awesome project.
The time-lapse footage will be available shortly and will appear on our school website and social media pages for your viewing.
