MLK Jr. Teach-in Day
This Wednesday, our students will engage in an annual tradition at King: to do some learning around the life, legacy, and ongoing work of our namesake, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Stay tuned and check in with your scholar to learn about their day!
Friends of King Fundraiser
As we prepare to welcome the new year, our PTA invites you to join the MLK Friends of King giving campaign. By supporting critical initiatives, including capital improvements, classroom supplies, caregiver support, enrichment projects, and more, your gift ensures that our students thrive.
With the start of the second semester coming up, please make a gift with impact by supporting the Friends of King annual campaign. Your gift will directly uplift our students and school community.
We wish everyone a prosperous new year, and thank you for being part of making MLK Middle School even stronger.
Strategic Plan and Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Input
In January, there will be some opportunities to engage with our BUSD district partners to look at data, give feedback, and share input on areas where we can improve. BUSD’s Strategic Plan is critical in setting direction for our collective work to ensure that all of our students achieve academic excellence and graduate from BUSD schools ready to make positive contributions to our world. A key accountability requirement of the state’s Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), the LCAP is a three-year plan, which every district and charter school must create and update annually with input from the community. The LCAP is intended to explain how the district will use state funds to improve educational outcomes for all students based on eight state priorities, with special attention to high-needs students for whom the district received additional money.
There will be two in-person sessions and two virtual sessions, each with a similar format. Spanish translation will be provided. Please see the dates and times below and try to attend one of the sessions if possible!
