Let's Be on Time to School
We want to remind all families that school starts at 8:00. Teachers open their classroom doors at 7:45, and students can arrive on campus as early as 7:30 for breakfast. Please help your student get to school on time. Every student who is on time this Friday will get a pencil from Mrs. McMillian! Let's see how many she can give out. We have 510 students at MES, and she'd love to give one out to each child.
Cell Phone Policy
We encourage students not to have cell phones at school, but we recognize that some of our older students do have cell phones and/or smart watches. Our school policy is to have all devices turned off and cell phones are to be stored in the student's backpack. If students have their cell phones out during the school day, parents/guardians will be called to pick up the device at the end of the day.
The Great Kindness Challenge
MES participated in the Great Kindness Challenge last week. It was a great week, and our students were so proud to share in which ways they had shown kindness both at school and at home. Remember, the fun and kindness doesn't have to stop here. You can participate at home as well. For additional information, click here https://thegreatkindnesschallenge.com/.

Ski and Snowboard Information
Ski and snowboard PE, Cross country ski PE and Mammoth Elementary School Ski and Snowboard teams had a great week last week. Please remember to send your child to the mountain with a snack in his/her pocket. For MMSA ski and snowboarders, buses will be departing from MES at approximately 12:55 pm and returning at approximately 4:00 pm. PE lessons are from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
If you choose to pick up your skier/rider from the mountain, please check out with a teacher. They are on the snow with clipboards. This is very important. The buses will not leave until ALL children are accounted for.
For any questions or concerns please reach out to our coordinators:

Ski and Snowboard Team Eligiblity
Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and Mammoth Unified School District work together to develop academic and behavior standards that must be maintained in order to participate in the team program.
• ACADEMICS: All academic standards are monitored by individual teachers. A student cannot be missing assignments or getting less than passing grades, as set forth by the individual teacher. Grades are checked on a weekly basis. If a team student is ineligible, he/she may not ski on Wednesday. Any mountain team student that is not eligible for the week may not be represented by the Mammoth Mountain Race Dept. at competitions away from home on the weekend. They may also not travel with the team for that same reason.
• BEHAVIOR: Students receiving a referral at school on a ski day are not allowed to ski on that day. If a team member has missed skiing for three consecutive weeks or four weeks total in a season, the child will be removed from the team. In this case the ski pass is revoked.
• RULES: Students must get to the bus on time after skiing. Busses depart at specific times. Students will not be allowed to ski the following week/day if they are late for the bus. Students may not use a candy/vending machine during the school days. Students may not enter the cafeteria on a school ski day.
