Judy Center Early Learning Hub
at Sudlersville Elementary School
It's all about Shapes and Sizes during Judy Center at SES Playgroup in the month of February
During the month of February, Judy Center at SES Playgroup lessons will be focused on shapes and sizes. We will focus on circles during week one, squares during week two, triangles during week three, and finish up the theme with a focus on hearts and stars during week four. Believe it or not, learning more about shapes strengthens your child's future reading and math skills. Children often see shapes when learning the letters in the alphabet. A greater concept of shapes will help them with letter recogition. One fun activity you may want to do is to go on a shapes scavenger hunt in your home. Look for all the squares, circles or other shapes in your home, and count them as you find them. Your child will be so surprised by all the shapes they find in their home. Another activity most children seem to enjoy is playing with playdough. A recipe to make your own homemade playdough is included in the newsletter. You and your child can make shapes and other creations with your homemade playdough. We would love to see pictures of your activities and creations. Share with us and we will post them on the Judy Center at SES Facebook page.
Let's Celebrate Black History Month!
February is a time to highlight and celebrate Black History Month! If your child is curious about the origin, maybe this explanation will help you navigate the topic. Black History Month was created to help highlight and focus attention on the contributions of African Americans. It honors all Black people from all periods in United States history from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today.
