January 2022 Newsletter
Principal's Message
The last few days have been a bit of a roller coaster as we quickly pivoted to remote learning for the week of January 10-14. On January 10, Education Minister Cliff Cullen announced that all schools will be going back to in-person learning effective January 17. We are looking forward to welcoming all of our students back at that time!
With the increase of cases and the affect the Omicron Variant is having in our region, it is once again very important that we follow the guidelines from public health. To put it simply, if your child is sick, please keep them at home until they are feeling better. Rapid tests kits are available at the school and those can also be used to guide your decisions about sending your child to school. Ultimately we want everyone at school, but we also want to ensure we are doing our part to keep Covid out of the school.
This winter we are looking forward to some familiar events and activities coming back to Elmdale. There is finally enough snow on the ground to bring out our sleds at recess! Thanks to our PAC and Canadian Tire's generous donation for making that happen! February will bring I Love to Read month and we are planning for a hybrid Book Fair (in-person and online). Stay tuned for more information.
We have made the decision to put a pause on our Family Celebration of Learning event. Stay tuned for a further information later on in spring.
I hope everyone had a restful and rejuvenating Christmas break and we look forward to seeing what January has to offer!

COVID Reminders
- Please make sure your child comes to school with an appropriate cloth or medical mask each day. It's always a good idea to send a few spares in case one gets wet, lost, or dirty. Cloth and disposable masks are also available from your child's teacher should they lose or forget theirs.
- In order to help reduce the spread of COVID, please remember to keep your child home if they are sick. Following the guidelines from Public Health will help us to keep all students and staff safe.
Immunization Clinics
- No student will receive an immunization/vaccination without express written permission from their parent or guardian. This will be done either through the online eConsent form found on the ProtectMB website, or with a paper form.
- Immunization clinics at the school will be done in a separate space to ensure privacy.
- Immunization clinics will be run by Public Health staff - Elmdale is simply providing a space.
More information about dates and specifics will be provided when available.
