NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH - PRESIDENT'S DAY
Hello Ivy Families,
We hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend - please remember that the school will be closed tomorrow (Monday) in observance of President's Day.
The school was wrapped in red, white and hearts on Wednesday as the PTA helped our students celebrate Valentine's Day! A big thank you to our PTA organizers and room parents - the parties were so much fun and the kids really enjoyed giving and receiving the Valentine's cards!
Tuesday will begin our "Kids Heart Challenge" along with the American Heart Association. This is a great way to teach our kids some heart healthy habits and to raise funds to combat heart disease. Keep reading to sign your child up!
If you've got books at home that you're not using anymore, bring them to Ivy Hill this week! Some students from Hersey High School's National Honor Society will be collecting for Bernie's Books. The collection has been extended to February 23rd so get that spring cleaning started!
Registration for Kindergarten and NEW students has opened! Scroll down to see the link. Please remember that this is for NEW students only - our returning students will receive their registration link in May!
There is a REVISED calendar for the remainder of this school year. Click here to print a copy. Don't miss the last day of school!!
Our Ivy Hill PTA has so much going on - please click here for the latest edition of The PTA Happenings!
Stay safe, stay kind, and stay courageous!

American Heart Association
Kids Heart Challenge is coming to our school beginning February 20th - March 1st. We have exciting things planned this year to help get us moving! Get a head start by signing up today and helping your student choose a daily health challenge. See the attached flyer to learn how to help your kids raise money and win prizes for this very important organization!
Hersey High School National Honor Society Book Drive
Some of the students from Hersey's National Honor Society will collecting books here at Ivy Hill once again this year. "Books for a Better Life" will be held from February 12th - 23rd and all book donations will be given to Bernie's Books. There will be boxes set up in the Commons - any age/genre are accepted.
SEND A CHANGE OF CLOTHES IN YOUR CHILD'S BACKPACK
Anything can happen during the school day - no matter the age of your child! From being caught in the rain, to a failed science experience, things happen! Please pack a change of clothes in each child's backpack for them in keep in case of a "wardrobe malfunction"!
Be sure that all clothing items are marked clearly with your child's name.
WINTER WOES
Winter really dries out our skin!! If you know that your child is susceptible to dry skin and lips, please put a small tube of lotion and a chapstick in their backpack. Our nurses office is a BUSY place - we just do not have the personnel to constantly be putting lotion and vaseline on the enormous number of kids that come in every day!!
PLEASE REMEMBER TO CALL YOUR CHILD IN LATE, ABSENT OR LEAVING EARLY - EVERY DAY!
A Note from Ms. Prater, our Art Teacher
The art room is collecting still life objects like old toys (action figures, Hot Wheels cars/trucks , horses and other animals). If you have anything lying around your house that you'd like to get rid of, please consider placing them in the collection bin outside of the art room.
Thanks a million!

Parent/Student Handbook Reminder
I also wanted to take a minute to remind everyone to read through the student handbook as it has a lot of important information. A couple of quick highlights I wanted to make you aware of are below:
The possession and use of cell phones and other electronic devices, including wearables, are subject to the following rules:
Elementary students are expected to leave electronics in the “off” position and in their backpacks throughout the school day.
Except as required in class or extracurricular programs, students cannot wear the following items in school:
Hats, hoods, helmets, or headgear (except as a religious observance or if medically necessary).
Sunglasses (unless medically necessitated)
I know this might be an adjustment for some students, so please remind your child that they will have to take off their “wearable” watch and hats off once they are at school. Our teachers will be reminding students of these expectations throughout the first weeks of school.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation!
Calendar 2023-2024 Details
Reminder that Monday, April 1, 2024, is now a Student Attendance Day. It was a Staff Only, School Improvement Day, but the weather emergency day used last Friday, January 12th changed Monday, April 1, 2024 into a Student Attendance Day.
We understand that many families may have already scheduled vacation plans that include April 1st. Please just plan to notify your school’s attendance line if your student will be absent. Absences for vacations on this date will be excused.
We do not need to make up the weather emergency day that was used on Tuesday, January 16th because we were able to utilize an eLearning day.
For your reference, linked below is an updated printable, one page, calendar.
BREAKFAST & LUNCH QUESTIONS
We have some new faces in our kitchen! Ms. Wisinski and Mrs. Hester are in charge of our food service this year. We will be serving breakfast and lunch daily to all of our students!
Breakfast will be served at 8:45 each morning - the cost is $1.75. If your child rides the bus, have them come directly to the commons when they arrive at school.
Lunch schedules change each week - Click Here for the menu. The cost for lunch is $3.25.
The easiest way to pay for breakfast and lunch to set up an account at MyMealTime.com. Call the office for your child's student ID number. You can also send cash. Please put the cash in an envelope with your child's name on it.
Download the Choosi app to help manage your child's account.
We’d love to hear from you!
