Message From Principal Kinney
Happy 2024
Our first week back from vacation was amazing! It was nice to see all of our students returning with mostly smiles! It's crazy how school, work and life in general can go from being so very crazy busy before and during the holidays to quickly slowing down just after the new year begins. The big news is what is taking place next week with a visit for our grades 6-8 students from Dr. Tommy Mabry with an additional visit for parents/guardians/caregivers at night. All adults from all grades are welcome to attend (not just grade 6-8).
The information below is a repeat, but it's happening next week and I wanted to keep it on everyone's radar! We hope to see you there!
Thanks for your partnership!
Keith

AMAZING OPPORTUNITY FOR FOWLER GRADES 6-8 STUDENTS AND CAREGIVERS
Just after the start of the new year, on January 9th, Fowler students in grades 6-8 will be visited by Dr. Tommie Mabry. Dr. Mabry has spoken to both students and adults all across the country on a wide variety of topics. For our Fowler Students, his focus and theme will be, “To Predict Your Future, You Must Create It”. Below is a description from Dr. Mabry on what he will be presenting to our students.
The theme spotlights handling adversity and focusing on solutions instead of problems. Dr. Mabry’s message challenges the audience to consider the variety of ways to approach conflicts and help students recognize the power in their determination. Dr. Mabry’s life-changing and unforgettable school assembly addresses themes such as: attitudes, character, choices, and leadership.
Here are a few links on Dr. Mabry:
In addition to our student presentation during the day, Dr, Mabry will also be hosting a parent presentation at night. On January 9th at 7:00 PM, you are invited to join us at Maynard High School. We have secured MHS to accommodate a more theater-style environment. This event will be open to all Maynard caregivers, not just Fowler’s adults and guardians. This will be an adult-only event.
Dr. Mabry’s presentation for caregivers will focus on:
• Goal Setting Strategies
• Re-define Home Cultural
• Things to BEWARE OF
• Differentiated settings to capture the child's attention and commitment at home.
We truly hope that we have a strong parent turnout. As part of building leadership capacity here at Fowler within our students, our students must continue to see that our schools and home work together as one team. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
A special thanks to the Maynard Education Foundation for their support in accepting and approving our grant proposal, which partially funds Dr. Mabry’s visit!
