What is A2 Live Online?

A2 Live Online is a synchronous online learning program. Students meet their teachers and classmates in an online platform for a full day of instruction Monday-Friday.

Is A2 Live Online right for my child?

Each child and family is different. To assist you in determining whether online learning is a match for your child there are several things that you can do:

How do I enroll my child in A2 Live Online?

Returning AAPS students must complete the 6th Grade Commitment Form. Full registration details for new students are available on the A2 Line Online Webpage.

Does my child have to commit to A2 Online for the full year?

No, but we do require students to commit to a full semester (until late January.) In order to ensure adequate staffing and course offerings at the building level, December 3, 2021, is the deadline for requesting to return to your school building for the second semester.

Do you teach the Ann Arbor Public Schools curriculum?

Yes.

Will my child have AAPS teachers?

Yes. All A2Online teachers are AAPS teachers.

What is the difference between A2Live and A2Virtual?

A2 LIVE Online is a teacher-led learning opportunity in which highly qualified AAPS teachers provide live instruction five days a week. Students follow a daily schedule. Classes include both online and offline work.


A2 Virtual+ is an asynchronous, flexible learning opportunity with regular connection to quality AAPS teachers where students complete their work in an independent setting, while receiving quality feedback from their teachers. Will there be a hybrid option for students during the 21-22 school year?

AAPS has moved forward with a full return to in-person learning and will not offer a hybrid model for the 2021-22 school year. Additional learning options include A2 Virtual model (K-12) or the A2 Live model (K-6).

How do you take attendance?

Attendance will be taken daily in each class during LIVE zoom sessions. A student is considered present when the student logs in via Zoom and demonstrates active engagement.

Will my child have opportunities to meet other students?

Yes. Students will meet with their classmates every day via Zoom.

Do students in A2 Online have electives?

Yes. Students will have two assigned electives each semester. These may include, but are not limited to Art, Physical Education and Choir.

Will band and orchestra be offered as electives?

Unfortunately, they will not be offered to 6th graders at A2 Online.

Is A2 Live Online closed if the district is closed?

Yes. If AAPS schools are scheduled to be closed or they are closed for another reason (i.e.; inclement weather) A2Online is also closed.

Do you follow the Ann Arbor Public School calendar?

Yes.

How will my child's progress be evaluated?

Teachers will assess student progress through observation, conversations, assignments, pre and post tests.

Will my child receive a report card?

Yes. Report cards are an important tool for communicating your child’s progress.

My child has an IEP. Will my child receive services?

AAPS is committed to providing a free and appropriate education to all students. To the extent possible, services outlined in an Individualized Education Plan will be offered online. In the event that the IEP team can not implement a student's IEP online, other program options may be recommended.

Do I need a computer?

Yes. A computer and daily wifi access are essential to engage in instruction. A ChromeBook, iPad or other device is loaned to students by AAPS.

Will my child need to report in person?

Students enrolled in A2 Online will not need to report in person. The exception is that a student may be required to report to participate in required District and State assessments.
