It’s time for our second edition of Family Math from Hough Street’s very own instructional coach, Laura Chor. This edition is titled, Making Math Fun with Games. As we progress through the cold and snowy winter weather, we hope these fun and engaging math games can bring some excitement to family game night. Starting this month students, staff, and parents will be asked to complete the Illinois 5Essentials survey. I encourage all families to take a couple of minutes to complete the parent portion of the survey, which is linked in the parent letter below. This information provides our district and school leaders with feedback to help guide school improvement planning and actions in the future. In addition, please take a second to read through the student survey letter to learn more about the student portion of the 5Essentials process. Please know that only students in grades 4 and 5 will be asked to take this survey at Hough.

Barrington 220 presents our annual K-5 STEM Family Event for 2023 - STEM into the Future! Families of Grove and Hough Elementary students are invited to our March 8th STEM Event. This is a family event so the whole family is welcome. Please come and enjoy self-paced activities for students in grades Kindergarten through fifth. Activities include robotic exploration, testing building materials and an engineering challenge.

This event will be held at Grove Elementary, for both Grove and Hough families, where we will showcase Grove's new elementary STEM lab, as well as some of our new robots.

Students must be accompanied by an adult. Please register early, as space is limited to 300 participants. Registration is limited to 300. Click here for more information and to register.

BHS Seniors, and Hough Street School Alums, shared Broncos Committed activities with the fifth graders this week, and our Kindergarten friends took full advantage of they recent snow.
