News & Announcements
Wednesday Roundup Schedule
Because of Thanksgiving break, there will not be a Wednesday Roundup delivered to your inbox on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. We will resume our regular weekly e-Newsletter delivery on December 6, 2023.
Hampden Elementary School Principal Todd Franze, teacher Mario de La Barrera, and Dr. Christopher attended the official National Blue Ribbon Ceremony in Washington D.C. last week, where Hampden received its official Blue Ribbon designation.
Hampden Elementary School is one of only 353 schools from across the country to earn the designation as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School. They proudly join Shaull Elementary School (2009) and the former Good Hope Middle School (now Mountain View) (2017) as three of the less than 10,000 schools nationwide to have earned the coveted honor in the last 40 years.
Congratulations to Cumberland Valley High School student artists Lily Wallace, Kira Gross, and Anneli Hellgren, whose artwork was selected to be on display during a Scholastic Show at Shippensburg University’s Kauffman Gallery. Collectively, their artwork represented 4 of the 35 pieces on display from the Pennsylvania and Maryland regions.
Lily took home Best of Show for her Series of 3 Human Figure Vases and she earned honorable mention in the Ceramics category for her piece titled Taco Boy. Kira’s graphite portrait earned second overall.
Congratulations, Lily, Kira, and Anneli!
We've got some pretty thankful turkeys in Mrs. Evie Bender's and Miss Keri Dougherty's kindergarten classes at Winding Creek Elementary School. Check out their handmade hats, which each reflect three things they are thankful for this holiday season.
Hundreds of presenters, guest speakers, and career fair volunteers recently spent the day helping our Cumberland Valley High School 10-12 students explore their passions and possible professions.
CV YOU Day has become an annual tradition, offering a career fair alongside a series of small group sessions ranging from discussions about careers in the arts, engineering, entertainment, the military, the trades, and more to presentations on making a difference in the community, becoming an organ donor, interviewing do's and don'ts, and resume workshops, just to name a few.
Thank you to the presenters who graciously donate their time and talents to share their stories and career knowledge with our students.
REMINDER: The Bulldog Players will present Finding Nemo JR on Dec. 1 and 2
We hope you are planning to join us in the “big blue world” as Nemo, Marlin, Dory, and their ocean friends take us on an unforgettable journey.
The Bulldog Players proudly present Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo JR on December 1 at 7 p.m. and December 2 at 2 p.m. in the Sporting Hill Elementary school gymnasium.
There are no tickets for this event, and admission is free. Bring your family and friends to enjoy our fourth and fifth grade’s production of this heartwarming story with incredible music.
Portrait of an Eagle: Student Spotlight
Mountain View Middle School's Student Council students recently wrapped up their annual canned food drive to benefit New Hope Ministries. This year, they collected and donated 4,981 pounds of food for New Hope. This is the largest single-organization donation that New Hope has ever received! These students demonstrated responsibility and communication throughout the coordination of this exceptional community service project. Congratulations to our students for organizing such a successful event, and thank you to everyone who participated in support of the greater school community. They are a Portrait of an Eagle!
