Charger Community Communique

Thank you all for your patience and excitement as we enter the 2022-2023 school year! We are excited to welcome back many families along with new families! It has been an extremely smooth start!

As many of you are aware, I have accepted a new position at the district office as the Director of Expanded Learning. The school board has appointed Franklin's new principal, Dr. Grass, who joins us from New Mexico with exceptional experience. His start date will be toward the end of September.

Meanwhile, on Monday, August 22nd, Mr. Kenley will be Franklin's interim principal. Mr. Kenley has spent the last months as the interim principal at Palm Desert High School and comes with an abundance of experience. I will work closed with both Dr. Grass and Mr. Kenley to ensure a smooth transition for our students, staff and community.

It has been my honor to serve as Franklin's principal for the past three years. This school will always hold a special place in my heart. With Charger Pride, Mrs. Knapp

You may enter through the center gate (by the bike rack and in front of the MPR) and go directly to the classroom.

We have over 150 families who have not completed the Online Registration in ParentVue. It is a quick process and very important. Even if you are new to Franklin and have completed registration paperwork, you still need to complete the online registration component.

Online Registration will not work using your cell phone. If you do not have access to a computer, we have some in the front office for families to use.

• Make sure your child exits from the car door by the curb (curb to car)
• Avoid parking in the curbs painted red as this is for emergency vehicles
• Avoid parking in the bus zone - we have 4 busses and transportation vans needing quick access to the area marked along the front of the office
• Ensure you and your child cross lanes using the designated sidewalks

Whenever possible, please make sure your child is at school. Unless they are sick or out for necessary personal reasons, they should be at school. Research shows a direct link to academic loss and low self esteem when students have chronic absenteeism.

When out, it is best to report the absence from this link. The goal for this year is to not miss more than 4 days.

Breakfast and lunch are free for all students. If your child forgets their lunch, the office will accept a sack lunch from home, but no fast food deliveries.

Is there a special occasion coming up? Please work directly with the teacher at least 48 hours in advance to coordinate the special treat. All items must be store bought and fall under the approved list which will be provided by the teacher. They must also be delivered before school with the teacher or dropped off in the office by 9am.
