Character Trait of the Month
Our NEW Character Strong trait for May is CREATIVITY. Check out what each grade level is working on!
A Message from the Principal
Hello Hoover Families,
Happy Mother's Day to all of our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, family friends, and guardians who love and care for all Hoover students! Thank you for everything that you do - we appreciate you so much!
Also, thank you to our Hoover PTO, volunteers, and staff who made our carnival a success this past Friday! The weather was cooperative, and the rain stayed away. It was a cool and breezy night of fun, food, and family spending time together - while playing and winning lots of fantastic carnival prizes!
Here's a peek at this week's events:
- May 16 - 2nd Grade Reading MAP Testing
- May 17 - 2nd Grade Math MAP Testing
- May 18 - 2nd Grade Reading/Math Make-up Testing
- May 19 - Track & Field Day - Information Flyer and a REMINDER that students should wear tennis shoes for PE days (no sandals, slides, crocs, etc.)
Best,
Mrs. Strusz

Hoover Track & Field Day is this Week!
We are excited to host our annual Hoover Track & Field Day Event again. In order to make the day run as smoothly as possible, please make sure you read through the following information:
- Please send your student(s) with their own sunscreen. The school does not provide sunscreen.
- To help locate your child on Track and Field Day, all grades have chosen a color t-shirt to wear. You don't have to purchase a new shirt. Please wear one you already have and printing/pictures can be on the shirt:
- Kindergarten = White
- Grade 1 = Gray
- Grade 2 = Green
- Grade 3 = Orange (this was black but now changed to orange)
- Grade 4 = Red
- Grade 5 = Blue
- On the day of the event, please listen to the weather report and have your child dress in layers, if necessary.
- Your child MUST bring a water bottle for the day. We will have several water stations set up on the grounds.
All students are encouraged to participate in all events. Volunteers will be running the events, and we have our Hoover staff chaperoning each grade level. We anticipate excellent sportsmanship and cooperation. However, if any students show inappropriate behavior, they will be escorted into the building & remain there until the end of the day.
You are welcome to eat lunch with your child. You may eat outside, or we will have tables available in the cafeteria.
- Grades K - 2 will eat at 11:45 am
- Grades 3 - 5 will eat at 12:20 pm.
The cost of a meal for you and guests NOT currently enrolled at Hoover is $5. You MUST buy a lunch ticket on the day of the event if you intend to eat school lunch. You will have an opportunity to purchase a meal ticket at a table in front of the school on the day of the event. MONEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN THE CAFETERIA. (Checks and cash will be accepted - NO debit/credit cards or large bills, please).
The choices for lunch are a corn dog meal or a peanut butter & jelly sandwich meal. In order to know how many meals to prepare, please return JUST the bottom slip (NO MONEY) of the Information Flyer to your student's teacher by Wednesday, May 10th.
In the event of inclement weather, you will be notified via email and text of a cancellation by 8:00 am. The make-up day is scheduled for May 26th.
Thank you,
Andy White, Physical Education Teacher
