Week of April 24th
PRIDE Under Construction - Week #33 🚧
Greetings, STEAM Family!
This is an exciting, yet super important week for our 3rd & 4th grade students as GEORGIA MILESTONES TESTING BEGINS! Our staff have been working extremely hard all year by teaching the grade level curriculum, providing challenging instruction for each one of our students, and filling in the gaps for those who have not mastered content. Our expectations have remained high, our instruction has been differentiated to meet the individualized needs of our scholars; our practice has been rigorous; and, most importantly, our attitude will always remain as one of not accepting anything less than our students’ absolute best! In doing so, we believe that we will set each and every student up to succeed not only in our classrooms and on the GMAS, but in LIFE!
In addition to your child getting a good night’s rest and arriving to school on time each day, listed below are just a few reminders that you can further discuss with your child to help ensure that he/she has a smooth testing week:
R – Read the questions carefully, then reread the passage or the problem.
E – Examine every answer choice before you choose your answer.
L – Label your answers (Math) and look for proof in the passage and underline it (ELA).
A – Always check your work!
X – X-out answer choices that you know are wrong.
We will have daily treats at the completion of testing for all of our 3rd & 4th grade students who have perfect attendance and exhibit great work effort during the testing session. Please join us in encouraging your child to THINK POSITIVELY and BE CONFIDENT! They are ready and well prepared.
As always, feel free to contact us anytime with questions or concerns, and thank you for your continued support of "THE" Susie Dasher Elementary School!
In the meantime, stay tuned for another week full of P.R.I.D.E.!

PRIDE After-School Program Update
This Week at SDE:
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Parents, please make sure your child maintains regular attendance and arrives to school in a timely manner. Students are tardy at 8:15 am. Five (5) tardies and/or early dismissals count as one (1) unexcused absence. Student attendance will be a part of criteria used to determine eligibility for school-wide celebrations. Remember, every minute really counts!
- Weekly grade level newsletters will be sent home each Monday, so please check your child's folder and/or book bag.
- The dress code will be enforced DAILY at SDE! Any "Dress Down" days will be communicated in advance. Repeated dress code violations will result in students becoming ineligible to participate in school-wide and/or classroom PRIDE celebrations and events! Please make sure your child adheres to the required dress code. Remember, the P in PRIDE stands for "Personal Responsibility".
- The PRIDE Afterschool Remediation/Enrichment Program takes place on Mondays - Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Snacks and transportation will be provided. For more information regarding the after school program waiting list, please contact the school at (478) 353-8250.
