“The world’s favorite season is spring. All things seem possible in May.” - Edwin Way Teale
Spring has finally arrived and it is time to get planting. Our grade 1 and 4 students and staff will be planting flowers as part of their learning about plants, plant needs and care for plants. Thanks to our School (Parent) Council for supplying the flowers.
JSS students and staff will continue to participate field trips before the end of this school year. And, our Grade 2 and 4 students will partake in swim lessons this month (4N-May 1-4, 4S-May 8-11, 2H-May 15-18, and 2M-May 23-26…all from 1-1:45 pm). Exciting times!
Alberta Health Services (AHS) will be back towards the end of May to continue with our Kindergarten to grade 2 student oral health check ups. Stay tuned. Brush, brush, brush!
Heads up … JSS will also be a voting center for the Alberta provincial election on May 29, 2023. Don’t forget to vote!
JSS students continue to live their School Promise each day (Promise to take care of themselves, each other and JSS, and pledge they won’t forget the promise). Each week, we randomly pick two student Jaguar Cards (from all the student names submitted each month into Jaguar Card Bin) to enjoy a free lunch. 198 JSS students received Jaguar Cards in September, 262 in October, another 102 in November, 96 students in December, 204 more in January, 68 in February, 207 more in March, and 102 in April…for a total of 1239 Jaguar Cards so far this school year. Stay tuned for our May and June totals. We are very proud of all our students living the school pledge each day.
Thank you to …
The parents/guardians for helping out with our School (Parent) Council hot lunch program.
Parents/Guardians for supervising field trips and assisting in our classrooms this year.
Our Grade 5 Safety Patrollers for showing up for early morning and afternoon duty.
Mrs. Rak and Mrs. Raynard for coordinating our breakfast program.
