LATE AP Exam registration deadline is February 16th. Students should register via Total Registration.

Students who would like to cancel their registration, may do so for a partial refund ($40 unused test fee). Students may cancel via Total Registration.

Seniors are invited to Henry Ford College for an Interview Day. They will be able to connect with MAT² Network Companies and learn about apprenticeship opportunities in 2024.

When: April 6, 2024, 10 am - 2pm

• Prospective apprentices will hear from our network companies, including Brose, SW Machines, EMAG and Durr Systems.
• Those interested will have the chance to do short interviews with company representatives.
• Parents/legal guardians are welcome to attend.

Dear Class of 2024 students and families,

As you may have heard, Federal Student Aid has released a new timeline that will impact when students will receive college award packages. Right now, it is anticipated that colleges will not receive the FAFSA data until mid-March, therefore they will not be able to send financial aid packages to students until late March or early April.

We know that this may cause you to delay your final decisions for next school year. Colleges and universities recognize the impact that this may have on you and continue to figure out ways to address/support these changes. You may hear from colleges soon. BHS Counselors have put together some things you can do while you wait:

• First, file the FAFSA! Although there is a delay, the sooner you file the sooner you will receive an award letter. Note: FAFSA is running inconsistently on Chromebooks.

• If possible, students/families should use a computer other than a Chromebook or smartphone.

• Register to attend the BHS FAFSA Help Virtual Workshop on February 14th at 6:30 PM!

• Create a MISSG (MI Student Scholarships and Grants) Student Portal account.

• Visit colleges that you have been accepted to or that you are interested in.

• Get a feel for the campus to make sure you have information that will help you with your final decision. Be sure to check out the programs you are interested in studying. Ask to sit in on a course, talk with an advisor, professor, and/or current student in your intended major!

• Use the FSA Student Aid Estimator to determine potential aid and compare it to actual college costs (using Net Price Calculator) as you begin to think about final college decisions.

• Research and apply for scholarships!

• Use this list or check out the BHS Scholarships List! This list is updated regularly and includes financial aid information, scholarship tips and resources!

• All scholarship providers should understand that they will not have FAFSA submission summaries until mid-March. They can produce evidence of FAFSA completion if necessary.

• Attend virtual webinars about financing college through MiStudentAid to learn more about various opportunities, such as the Michigan Achievement Scholarship. Register and you will receive the recording even if you are not attending live.

• If you are having challenges with the FAFSA form

1. Create your studentaid.gov login credentials more than 24 hours prior to completing the FAFSA.

2. All those contributing to a FAFSA (parent/guardian) will create a separate studentaid.gov login! Usernames and passwords are not shared. If parents are divorced, the parent who provides 51% of financial support will need a login. If that parent is also remarried, the stepparent will need their own login as well.

3. Record your login information on Step One of the FAFSA Worksheet.

4. Review the FAFSA Checklist for a list of items necessary to complete the FAFSA.

• Federal financial aid programs
• State financial aid programs

Girls Who Code Summer Programs Flyer

Girls Who Code’s Free Virtual Summer Programs Overview

• Our free virtual summer programs are open to current 9th-12th graders who identify as girls or non-binary. Any coding experience level is welcome!
• In addition to our free programs, we offer a financial support grant of up to $300 to support students who might otherwise earn a summer income, and laptop and hotspot access for eligible students.
• This year, students can choose to learn new coding skills in game design, web design, cybersecurity, or data science and artificial intelligence! As they build computer science skills, students will learn about the many diverse careers in tech through virtual events with professionals in the field.

• Students receive priority consideration if they apply at girlswhocode.com/summerapply by February 14, 2024. Regular-decision applications are due by March 22, 2024.

Prep Workshop at the Macomb ISD!

This workshop will:

• Show you the exact format of the test and the types of questions to expect on each section of
• the test
• Teach you specific SAT and testing strategies
• Give you practice with pacing
• Show how to access practice tests and answer keys that you can use at home

The Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) Mental Health School Navigators are Behavioral Health Professionals that provide outreach and resources to Schools in Oakland County. Their goal is to reduce barriers to mental health services which sometimes includes financial difficulties.

OCHN’s Mental Health School Navigators can provide families with a financial reimbursement resource that provides up to $2000 per household to help cover co-pays and deductibles by a qualified mental health professional, such as for therapy or psychiatry.
