Nomination Time for Outstanding People for Education Awards
Who do you see going above and beyond every day? Nominate them!
For the 16th year, Otsego will join other Allegan County schools in selecting three recipients of the Outstanding People for Education awards! This award can go to anyone involved in the education of our students and should be someone who has made an impact on a student, classroom, school or the district. You can read more about the award and find the nomination form (online or printable) on our website: Outstanding People for Education Information / Nomination
Spring Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences are around the corner! Please click below to sign up for a conference time for each of your students. After signing up, you will receive a confirmation email for your child's conference. We are striving for 100% participation.
All classroom teachers are in order by grade level. If you would also like to conference with a Specials teacher, they are included at the bottom.
Please let our office know if you have any questions, we would be happy to assist you in scheduling your conference.
Sponsor a Staff Member's Dinner

Bulldog Buddies - LINK of the Week
Bulldog Buddies is the name of Washington Street’s LINKS program. LINKS is an evidence based peer partner program that promotes inclusion and belonging of all students. Through Peer-to-Peer, we are able to build intentional opportunities for connection between our general education students and our students with disabilities. Many think that Peer-to-Peer only benefits our students with disabilities however; research shows that it benefits all students! For more information on Peer-to-Peer, check out this LINK.

Career Fair - Volunteers Needed!
We need your help to plan an exciting career fair for our 3rd - 5th graders! The WSE Career Fair will be Friday, April 19th, from 1-3:45pm.
If you or someone you know is interested in being a presenter, please contact Angie Bender at abender@otsegops.org or 269-694-7826. We would love to have a variety of careers for the students to learn about!
OHS Musical - HONK!
Father Daughter Dance
Alamo Little League
CKH - Capturing Kids Hearts
Students in 3rd grade listened to the story "Scribble Stones" by Diane Alber and did an activity around kindness. The story is about a rock that works with other rocks to spread kindness and happiness. Students created their own "scribble stone" to spread kindness throughout W.S.E.
Counselor's Corner
Congratulations to our new Conflict Managers!!
Our school year is about half over now and it’s time to announce our selection for the second group of conflict managers for the year. Conflict Managers are a special group of fourth and fifth grade students who are selected twice a year and serve their school by helping other students resolve conflicts. They are chosen by their classmates and their teachers. They are trained and scheduled for duty by the elementary counselor. Conflict Managers help students talk out their problems and find their own best resolutions. They also help with mileage club and in many other ways around our school. They are a great asset to our school, acting as positive role models and leaders.
We would like to congratulate and thank the following students who will be Conflict Managers for the second half of the school year at Washington Street Elementary: Amelia Deckert, Katelynn Jacobs, Nasir Meriwether, Johnathan Santiago, Jonathan Andress, Joey Meech, Alex Spitzner, Hunter Wrobleski, Brylynn Jacobs, Knox Leonard, Hunter Pickett, Vera Rowe, Bentlee Johnson, Samantha Meyer, Keegan Shumaker, Emalyn Wylie, Eliana Churchill, Rylynn Lambert, Hayden Miller, Rose Mooney, Lily Burchfield, Isaiah Bushee, Aven Smith, and Aleiya Stolt. Way to go!
Watch D.O.G.S.
Our WatchD.O.G.S. program is in full swing! “Dads” (or dad-like figures) who are interested in signing up to volunteer for a full or half day should contact Angela Bender (abender@otsegops.org) or Jen Knight (jknight@otsegops.org) via email to schedule a date.
When you volunteer, you will receive a schedule for the day that allows you to help out in different classrooms doing a wide range of activities (reading a story, working with a child 1:1, playing a game with a small group). You will also have scheduled time on the playground and lunchroom to interact with students and be a positive role model for them. We need a current background check on file before you can volunteer.
