Marching Band Earns 1st Place
Cross Country
Nearly 100 runners from a trio of high schools who navigated the course for Wednesday’s Southern Maryland Athletic Conference cross country meet at La Plata were asked to brave the elements as well on a day when temperatures again approached triple-digits.
Chopticon’s Dominic Longobardi, Nick Watson and Weston Carr swept the top three spots in the boys event, while Braves’ senior Kathleen “Katie” Schwaner captured the girls event
Girls and boys cross country competed against La Plata and McDonough at La Plata. Girls and boys came up with the wins against both teams. Starting the regular season at 2-0 for both girls and boys.
Girls top athlete was Katie Schwaner, who placed first overall out of 34 athletes. She was followed by the rest of the top 7 for Chopticon, teammates Callie Modrzejewski, Ava Williams, Danielle Baker, Madison Eberle, Laila Gagnon, and Carys Oliver. Girls took 5 places of the top 10 positions with 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th and 10th.
Boys top athlete was Domiinc Longobardi who placed first overall out of 61 athletes. He was followed by the rest of his top 7 with Chopticon teammates, Nick Watson, Weston Carr, Brendan Nutter, Mason Allen, James Owens and Pietro Poli. Boys swept the top 6 spots and the 8th spot in the meet.

Girls JV soccer wins both games; 2-1 vs Leonardtown and 8-1 vs Great Mills.
Lady Braves fell short to North Point 5-1. They played strong and didn’t back down.
Soccer
Sept 5th JV Boys Soccer traveled to McDonough to face the McDonough Rams and Lackey Chargers. The Braves won both games not allowing either team to score!
Tuesday, Sept 5th Braves Varsity Soccer traveled to North Point for an intense and physical game. Full time + Double Overtime. Tied 2-2

The final day for class/schedule changes based on student request is Friday, September 8, 2023. After this date, changes will be made only with approval of an administrator. Students who drop courses after September 30 may receive an F for the course on their report card and transcript (per the SMCPS Program of Studies).

Admission to Athletic Events
- All regular season tickets are $6.00 (online or card at the gate)
- Online ticketing is highly encouraged prior to arrival
- Employee badges from all three counties will be honored per SMAC Constitution
- As a reminder, No +1 or additional guest per SMAC Bylaws for local employees..
- MPSSAA passes are ONLY accepted for Region and State Playoff games, not regular season SMAC contests or SMAC championships.
- Senior Citizen Cards will only be for St. Mary's County residents.
- Anyone leaving the event without authorization MUST pay to re-enter
- No outside food or drinks are permitted
- No Bags (Other small permissible items such as keys, wallets, cell phones, credit cards, and cash may be carried in a pocket or by hand)
