Principal Message
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8th through May 12th. The KES staff is beyond amazing. Every day I am so proud to work with all of the individuals here. They are caring, empathetic, and knowable. Please take a moment to reach out to your child's teacher this week to share your appreciation for them.
PTO Fun Run
- PTO Fun Run is Thursday May 11 during school hours. We are excited for the students to reach their lap goals! The money raised from this event will be used for a variety of things at KES - flexible seating, classroom books and other school events for students. If you didn't have a chance to donate or pledge a runner, there's still time! Donations can be sent in after the Fun Run is completed. More information will be sent home after the race.
Students should dress for the weather on the day of the event and bring a water bottle. Each student receives a t-shirt and post run snack. If you have any questions please reach out to jsteinert@kewaskumschools.org. Thank you for your support!

Prodigy (1-8)
Prodigy is a website your child can use to practice their math skills. In this video, Mrs. Koepp will show you how you can set it up for your child to use at home and how to monitor their progress. This program is great for your child to work on in the summer. https://www.prodigygame.com/main-en/

Touch, Look, Retell
Grade Levels: K-5
This comprehension strategy helps students determine and retell the important events in a fiction story. After reading, encourage your child to touch each page where something important occurred, look at the pictures on the page, and then tell what happened. They should continue going through the book using this process to retell only the important events. Use this Touch, Look, Retell visual as a helpful reminder. For longer chapter books without pictures, students can use sticky notes to mark important events. Then, they can touch the pages with the sticky notes to retell the story in sequence.
