Support Rio Norte's Music Department
Butter Braids are an annual tradition at Rio Norte thanks to Rio's music department. When I arrived at Rio, staff couldn't stop talking about how incredible these butter braids are. The dough comes in a roll (not quite twice the width of an empty paper towel roll) and you store them in the freezer until the night before you want to make this amazing puffed pastry. I was worried after all the hype they wouldn't be as good as people said, but I have to admit they are wonderful, flakey goodness! My own family is sold and has been asking when we are having them again. I'm partial to the apple myself, but you can't go wrong with any flavors, I'm told! Congratulations Art James!
Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Nancy James, also known as "Art James"! Art James was a former Math Teacher at Rio Norte that took her outside passion and love for art and ceramics and brought that into the classroom at Rio. She now teaches 5 sections of art and has created a fantastic environment for art lovers and non-art lovers alike, to enjoy their elective class. Art James was honored by her fellow colleagues who have been amazed with the wonderful things she's bringing to our art program and our students. In her spare time she helps our Cross Country and Track teams and coaches full-time with her husband at Valencia High School. She loves helping kids be successful. Thank you Mrs. James for everything you do for kids each and every day!

Congratulations to our Classified Employee of the Year, Claudia Sweener, known to the students as Ms. Claudia. Ms. Claudia is an Instructional Assistant in one of our Special Education classrooms with our students with greater needs. She cares so deeply for her students and is supportive of her entire classroom team. Her teacher says she is instrumental to the running of their classroom and he couldn't do it without her! Her colleagues constantly talk about her dedication to the students and her willingness to help any and every one at Rio! Thank you Ms. Sweener for dedicating your work to our amazing students at Rio!
ASB Movie Night
Come join ASB and Advanced Drama for The Nightmare Before Christmas on Friday, October 20th from 2:35-5:00 p.m. in the Rio Norte MPR. Students will enter through the lost and found hallway for a "Haunted Hallway" experience. Your $5 supports the Haunted Hallway and snacks during the movie.
