A Note From the Principal
Good Morning River Hawk Families,
This morning, I spoke to our students on RioTV to continue discussing our SOAR motto (video below). Today I spoke about letter A - Accepting Differences and encouraged students to appreciate the differences that make us unique. I shared that we can respectfully disagree and still accept and appreciate what's different about one another, even giving students an example from my own life. With everything going on in our world right now, it is so important to have compassion for one another and I encourage you to take a little time to talk about your expectations with your student.
Thank you to all our families who were able to support PTSA's Red Robin fundraiser this past Wednesday! Remember PTSA is PRE-selling Krispy Kreme donuts by the dozen. They have extended the deadline to order until Tuesday, 10/17 - see below. Donut boxes will be available for students to pick-up on their way out of school at dismissal on Friday, 10/20. And don't forget to get your student a ticket to ASB's and Drama Production's Haunted Hallway and Movie event on Friday.
We unfortunately are cancelling our First Responders Breakfast as our heroes are busy supporting our community and regretfully could not attend. Instead ASB students will be out at the valet line Wednesday morning with posters supporting our first responders dropping off their kid! Feel free to show your love by honking your support! Thank you to those who had planned to donate breakfast items, but they will no longer be needed.

Finally, with so much sadness in our own community and the world we live in, the feelings of helplessness can creep in on us. Our Meaningful Monday lesson will encourage students to share with someone why they are grateful for them. In that spirit, I'd like to encourage all of you to join me in an act of kindness to someone this weekend. Whether you pay it forward to a stranger behind you in the drive thru, call or spend time with a friend or family member who needs your love and care, or find a random act of kindness of your own, I hope you'll consider spreading a little love in our community. Who knows, maybe you or someone you know will be the person I spring my random act of kindness on this weekend!
Sincerely,
Brenda Bennett
