CLEVELAND SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
WEEKLY NEWSLETTER FOR UPDATES & REMINDERS
Week of October 23, 2023
A note from the Head of School
Dear CSA Family and Friends,
Welcome to a new week at CSA. This week marks the start of the second quarter. We encourage all of our scholars to get off to a good start by having great school attendance, turning in all work on time, communicating with their teachers frequently, and taking advantage of all tutoring opportunities.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: October 25th; 12:30 - 7:00 PM. Don't miss this opportunity to meet 1-on-1 with your scholar's teachers. There is no school for students on this day. Parents can sign up for (in-person only) conferences. Click to register
PSAT Testing: All 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade scholars will be taking the PSAT on Thursday, October 26th. All scholars will be in attendance for testing. Seniors will also report and attend their regularly scheduled classes.
Schoology parent access: It is highly encouraged that families use their parent access codes to review their scholar's classroom grades and performance. By using your Schoology parent access, you will be able to see your scholar's current grade, assignments completed, and assignments missed. This is a great tool for keeping up with your scholar's progress in class. Reach out to your scholar's teacher(s) if you have questions. Click to log in. Your scholar's teacher can provide the access code if you do not already have it. You need to have updated contact credentials in the Student Information System (SIS) to be able to be provided with your Schoology Parent account. Contact the school's main office to update your contact information.
Mixed media class update: It is official...Meagan See is now the long-term in our Mixed Media Arts Classroom. She will focus primarily on 2D with juniors, ceramics with sophomores, and mixed media as an elective.
Digital art class update: A digital arts teacher has been identified and accepted the position. They are currently clearing all background checks. We are anticipating their first day of CSA being Monday, October 30.
Senior Cap & Gown Picture Day: December 11th
Youth Risk Behavior Survey: October 27th. Our school has been selected, along with at least 50 other schools in Cuyahoga County, to participate in this year’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) sponsored by the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods at Case Western Reserve University. To learn more about the YRBS or to opt-out (click here)
Homecoming: November 17th. More details to come. The student council is working on arrangements.
Monthly Parent Meetings announced. Please see below for the dates and times of the 2023-2024 month Zoom meetings for families.

Is your scholar on track for a skill increase?
