End of the 1st Nine Weeks
We have finished the first nine weeks of school and appreciate everyone's hard work to make it a great start to the school year. Please continue to help support your student by making sure they are attending school every day and submitting all of their assignments. This is a great way to ensure success for your child!
New Assistant Principal
Mr. Brewer has recently accepted a different position in our district. We were sad to see him go, but wish him the best. We would like to extend a warm welcome to Shane Waters, who will be serving as the assistant principal with KCS Virtual Elementary. Ms. Waters comes to us from John Sevier Elementary School in Maryville, Tennessee. She will be with us part-time and with another elementary school the other part of the time.
Contacting Your Child's Teacher
Communication with your child's teacher is important and helps to ensure you are working as a team. Teachers will respond to messages in a timely manner. If a message is received after a teacher's contract hours, they will respond the next business day. As a reminder, one of our school expectations is to reach out to your child's teacher via Dojo or email if you have questions or concerns. Parents should not be on camera to ask questions during lessons, due to the disruption this causes in the learning environment. Thank you so much for your cooperation!
After School Clubs
We are so excited to offer a variety of clubs for our students to join. We hope your child will find something that interests them and become a member. This is a great way to make new friends, learn about something new or continue with some things that interest them.
Below is a link for you to view a google doc to see club schedules, descriptions, and links to sign up students. Some clubs are specific to certain grade levels and there are some clubs for any/all grade levels. Please read each club's information to see if it fits your child's interest, and date availability. Your child can sign up for one club or one each day depending on what you would like.
Once you click the active link to sign up for a club, the sponsor of that club will receive your information. Students will be invited to join our KCVES Clubs Canvas Page (remind them to accept the invite this week). This is where they will find more club information, can go to their club page and will be able to find the TEAMS meeting link to join in on the virtual club fun.
Clubs will meet after school Monday-Thursday. Clubs have different days and times, but most are between 2:45-3:30. We look forward to seeing your child in one of our KCVES Clubs this week!

Science Olympiad 3rd -5th Graders
Is your student a future scientist or engineer? Does your student love science experiments? Does your student love a challenge?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then your student may be a great candidate for our Science Olympiad Team.
Elementary Science Olympiad events take advantage of the natural curiosity of each child and allow for in-depth hands-on experiences.
The intent of this club will be to prepare for the competition which will take place in May. We will have an inner club competition at the end of April or early May. This will be an all-virtual event. It is usually an in-person event held on a Saturday, but there may be a virtual component to the competition. We will provide students with competition materials if they are competing. Students do not have to compete to be a part of the club. Some materials may be required for normal club meetings.
Mrs. Noe and Mrs. Hutchinson invite all interested 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students to attend the Science Olympiad Meeting on Thursday, October 21 from 2:50-3:20. The meeting will be presented through Microsoft Teams.
