Message from Mr. Kingery
Dear Families,
We had a fun Rock’n Recess yesterday that students earned for exceeding our first Fun Run goal of $5,000. We raised over $7,500 which will go towards support for each grade level, field trips and more. We appreciate Mrs. McKean for providing the music to celebrate, Mr. Guthrie, for helping supervise the fun. Thank you to our PSO for providing a popcorn snack during the fun. Our PSO Rocks! Please mark your calendars and join the next PSO meeting on November 13th at 6:00 PM in our school library. I hope to see you there. Please remember to sign up for a conference during Family Partnership Days during the week of Oct. 23rd.
Family Partnership Days:
We are looking forward to seeing all our families during Family Partnership Days in a few weeks. Family meetings will be held on October 23rd-October 27th. Please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible if you have not scheduled a meeting time yet. Parent involvement is critical for your child’s success, learning, attitudes about school and aspirations. Parents, students and teachers must all work together to make an unbeatable team of support for every child. Conferences serve as an important time to continue building strong home-school connections. We look forward to seeing you all during Family Partnership Days.
Some suggestions that may help for a successful conference:
Before the Conference:
Write down any questions you want to discuss.
Ask your child how they feel about school and if there are any concerns, or questions you should discuss with the teacher.
Consider sharing an important event that may affect your child’s performance. Be sure to let the teacher know important life changes at home as necessary.
On Conference Day:
Arrive on time and stay only for the amount of time scheduled for your appointment. If important questions have not been discussed, ask for a future appointment or phone call.
Ask questions about the information you get from the teacher. What does it mean?
Introduce yourself to the music and P.E. teachers, our student support specialist, TAG, and multilingual specialist. There are many support staff that would like to get a chance to say hello. It’s an excellent time to learn about the programs planned for this year and your child’s progress.
The principal is available during meeting time if needed.
If you would like to see me, please schedule a time with the office at (503) 431-3500.
After the Conference:
Follow up on next steps agreed to by you, your child’s teacher and your child.
Stay in touch with the teacher. You may send a note, email, or leave a message on the teacher’s phone with any questions that you have later this school year.
Discuss what was said during the conference with your child. Be sure to celebrate any successes and positive comments the teacher shared.
Use this as a chance to praise your child!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Kingery

Staff Snack Bar Sign-up!
Message from PSO
Our Art Rutkin teachers will be meeting with families from early in the morning to late at night for Family Partnership days on October 26-27. We’d love to provide pre-packaged snacks for staff members to grab in between meetings to keep them going all day! Please sign up for any item below and bring it to the front office by Wednesday, October 25th.
There will be approximately 20 staff members on campus for family partnerships meetings, so please aim to get 8-12 of each item (depending on the item/packaging).
Thank you so much for treating our teachers!
