Children are the heart of Imlay!
Dear Imlay Families,
A Message from Mrs. McCalley, Principal
What an amazing school community we have! It has made my heart burst with pride to see our students return to full day, in person learning. Our learners have mastered arrival and breakfast routines, participated in morning meeting and are practicing classroom routines and structures! It has been a fabulous week!
Have you followed us on social media? We have been posting photos daily of Imlay classes hard at work!
Muffins with Principal McCalley is a casual conversation where I answer questions parents may have! I will also be collecting ideas on future topics. This will occur twice a month. The first Friday of the month will be in person outside under the covered area from 8:15-9:15 a.m. or the second Friday of the month virtually at 3:00 p.m. Similar topics will be covered in both sessions. Save the date for the first Muffins with Principal McCalley on October 1st!
Important Upcoming Dates:
September 21st: 6:30-8:00 pm: Taco Tuesday with Imlay PTA & Principal
September 22nd: Early Release at 2:05 p.m.
September 28th: Picture Day
September 29th: Early Release at 2:05 p.m.
October 1st: 8:15-9:15 a.m. Muffins with Principal McCalley outside under covered area
If you ever have a question, please do not hesitate to reach out to your classroom teacher, the office or myself! We would love to help out!
Thank you for sharing your children with us!
Mrs. McCalley

Talented and Gifted Information
SERVICES OFFERED FOR TALENTED AND GIFTED (TAG) STUDENTS
Parents are welcome to refer their child for services designed for students identified as talented and gifted. Students who score at or above the 97th percentile on a nationally standardized, norm-referenced test of overall reading or math or on a mental abilities test, and have other confirming evidence that they learn at a rapid rate and advanced level, are identified as TAG students. With parent input, individual plans are made to adjust the rate and level of the student’s instruction to meet his or her specific needs.
If you think your child may qualify for TAG services and want information about the referral and identification process, please contact: Arianna Siegfried 503-844-1090

Transportation COVID Protocols
BUS HEALTH AND SAFETY UPDATES
In order to support in person learning 5 days a week, buses will run at full capacity.
All bus riders and staff will be required to wear a mask to ride the bus.
Buses will also carry extra student masks for anyone in need
Buses will keep all windows at a minimum of halfway open to provide extra ventilation
High touch points areas will be wiped down between each “run” of students
All buses will be disinfected daily with “Oxivir” utilizing a static sprayer.
Bus staff will continue to encourage students living within the same household to sit together.
No seating charts will be used on all general education buses. If a positive case is identified, a heads up letter will be sent to families.
Student rostering on special accommodation buses
Due to the needs of students transported on these smaller buses, seating charts will continue to take place daily.
Nuts and Bolts Reminders!
- Breakfast is offered at Imlay from 7:50-8:05 a.m.
- The doors to class open at 8:05 a.m. Students who arrive after 8:15 a.m. will need to enter the front door, sign in at the office and take a tardy pass to their teacher.
- FOR OUR STUDENTS' SAFETY: Please remind them that the ONLY place to cross Imlay is at the corner of Lois and Imlay. Remember, kids are always watching, so please do not cross Imlay near the parking lot.
- Students must wear a mask at all times, including outside when social distancing cannot (or is not) being maintained.
- School is out at 2:35 p.m.
- Students must be supervised on the playground after school by a parent or they may return after 3:30 p.m. This helps us be sure every child is accounted for at the end of the day. Thank you for understanding!
- If your student is absent, please call before 8:00 a.m. to let us know so we may mark their absence as excused.
Safety Drills
- Fire Drill-monthly, all year, including one within the first 10 days of school
- Earthquake Drill-twice a year
- Lock Out Drill-once a year
- Lock Down Drill-twice a year, one within the first month of school
- One "Drill of Choice" to repeat one of the above drills
We are unable to publicize ahead of time when drills will occur in order to practice the emergency response; however, after each drill, we will send home a Remind message letting families know we conducted the drill. To help support your student, please remind them that drills are just one more way adults make sure students are safe.
In case of a true emergency, families will receive information with instructions on what to do from Hillsboro School District through a variety of methods (auto-dialer, Remind, email, heads up letter, etc.). Contact information is pulled from your student's ParentVue information. {Please verify your information through ParentVue!)
Thank you for being partners in helping us keep our community safe!
