Message from the Board
Dear PPCS Families --
At our last meeting, the PPCS board created “Six Word Memoirs” to capture the essence of Palouse Prairie Charter School. What’s a Six Word Memoir? Legend has it that Ernest Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in only six words. According to this tale, his resulting story was: “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”
Here were the stories we came up with to capture the essence of our school:
Deep Questions, Authentic Connections, Get Outdoors!
I’m watching my child become gritty
Engagement, Character Building, Meaningful Rigorous Learning
Character Development, Critical Thought, Integrated Problem Solving
A well lived life starts here.
Reaching out, reaching in, student centered
Adventurous learning, growing minds with love
Holistic and Inclusive Learning for All
We’d love to hear from you: what is your family’s Six Word Memoir about Palouse Prairie? Send them to me at jbearman@palouseprairieschool.org and we will feature them in an upcoming Quail Call.
This Six Word Memoir exercise was part of initial strategic planning work. Along with maintaining school policies, ensuring fiduciary responsibility, and supervising/supporting the executive director, regular strategic planning is a crucial part of our role. Over the remaining months of this school year, we will be thinking together about how our school will continuously improve. We will be reaching out to you for input and feedback to shape a vision, goals, and priorities for our school over the next three years.
On behalf of the full PPCS Board, I wish our entire PPCS Community a wonderful winter break, with lots of love and warmth. See you in 2022!
Warmly,
Jessica

P.S. Board Meetings are always open to you. Palouse Prairie’s board meetings follow “open meeting law,” which means that our community is always welcome to observe. Community members can also share public comments with the Board, either in writing or in person. Send requests to speak or comments in writing my way by 4pm on the day of the meeting for inclusion. All comments must be respectful, appropriate to whole-school business (ie: not focused on a specific student or teacher) and limited to three minutes if delivered verbally.
