***Note, Monday, 12/19 is FUN and FESTIVE Christmas free dress. Students may also wear red and/or green if they do not have holiday shirts. Tuesday, 12/20, is FANCY Christmas dress for the program. Students will return to class after the program so they are welcome to change into their uniform after if that is more comfortable.
2. THANK YOU: Needless to say, this has been a rough semester for the Maricle household with the loss of two matriarchs in our family and some crazy health issues with me. I just want to give a HUGE shout out to my staff for being amazing and keeping things going and for the community for being so patient with my absences. Words cannot describe how thankful I am to be a part of the Saint Mary family. I hope everyone has a blessed and relaxing holiday season.

Double your giving!
Guardian Gift Fund
UPDATE: Our matching donor has extended the giving time to December 30th. We recently determined that our playground needs a serious face lift so we are designating much of the funding from GGF this year to playground renovation. Please consider giving before December 30th so we can maximize our matching gift!
If you have already given and would like to edit or add to your post on the GGF page, you can email the information to lindsay.maricle@schoolofsaintmary.com and I will get it updated. This includes comments, photos and affiliations.
Please share the link to the fund homepage on your social media pages to help get the word out about our amazing Guardian Gift Fund.

Here are a couple of things you can share:
"The School of Saint Mary is a very special place-please consider supporting it with a donation to the Guardian Gift Fund today!"
"I just made a gift to the Guardian Gift Fund to support the School of Saint Mary. Consider joining me in making a gift as well-your contribution supports the school's greatest needs each year and makes a lasting impact on current and future Guardians!"
ParentSquare
I have posted some tutorial videos in ParentSquare and will continue to do so for the rest of semester. If you ever have any issues, please contact the office.
***Reminder, ParentSquare is a web-based program that will send all posts to a designated email. You do NOT have to use the app.
Migration Timeline:
November 16th: All School of Saint Mary Basketball Teams now have a private group on ParentSquare for team communication.
December 1st: Volunteer Sign-up for Cafeteria will be housed in ParentSquare. Parents can start signing up for second semester dates on this day. (My apologies on the delay with this- the signup will be live in PS by December 14th)
January 9th: Teachers will move all class and home communication to the ParentSquare platform. This will lessen emails and texts/calls.
Wellness Update....
FLU season is here! Please watch for symptoms and keep your child/ren home if they are not feeling well.
Here is a short synopsis of the newest edition of our COVID policy.
- Student is positive – Day 0 is the day the student tests positive (even if asymptomatic) or displays symptoms and Day 1 is the first full day of COVID.
- Parent/Student chooses not to test for early release: The student should isolate at home for 10 days.
- Testing options to return to school on day 8:
- 2 negative antigen tests (1st negative test on day 6, 2nd negative antigen test on day 8 and return to school)
- Negative PCR collected on day 6 and return to school on day 8
- School Exposure – Parents will be notified that there has been a positive case of COVID in the student’s class. No masking or quarantine is necessary, but parents should monitor their child for symptoms and keep them home and test for COVID if symptoms occur.
- Positive Case of COVID in the student’s house, but student is not ill: Student may still come to school, but must try to isolate from the person in the household who is positive and must mask at school for 5 days after the last contact with the positive family member. Day 0 would be the last day the student had contact with the positive family member and Day 1 would be the following day. Please note that the count will begin again if the student is re-exposed.
SOSM Cafeteria
THANK YOU for your patience with this program. The cafeteria financials are looking much better much to the dismay of food costs and Chef Lisa and I are very happy with the direction we are moving. We LOVE our cafeteria!

Important School Reminders/Announcements
Outerwear: In support of our branding effort, we are asking that new purchases of sweatshirts and jackets that students will wear at school have the new logo and the word "Saint" in Saint Mary spelled out. I am grandfathering in pretty much anything that has the school name or the school logo (old or new) this year but will be begin to weed out those items next school year. Home and School has worked incredibly hard on getting new items in the spiritwear store that have run through office approval.
Technology Update: iPads and tablets do not work well with Google Classroom. Therefore, if your students is using one of those devices for homework, it will not always be reliable and we do not have a way to fix it.
Marian House System
Congratulations to House of Knock for being the point leader for the November challenge! Our of uniform passes have been distributed by house leaders.
The December challenge is prayerfulness. Students are awarded points for their their house when they share their prayer life with others. Points are updated on the house board outside of 2nd grade.
