Sunday Chat with Principal Dothard
Hello Hornet Nation,
I hope everyone had a great relaxing Spring Break and found time to be with family, friends, and some personal for themselves! I know it never seems long enough but it is ending. We are happy to see everyone's smiling faces back at school in the morning!
As we enter the final quarter of the school year, let us strive to finish on a strong and positive note. Remember, 1-Lunch is a valuable opportunity to catch up on assignments, seek additional help from teachers or friends, complete homework, and socialize with peers. This is also the time when we see the fruits of our labor with acceptance letters from various institutions. While some students may not be there yet, planning for the future is our primary objective of education.
Attendance is crucial, especially as we kick off our graduation assessments for Geometry, Algebra 1, World Literature, and Biology. If your student has not taken the assessment and has completed any of these courses, please have them contact their counselor. We are doing our best to ensure that every student is accounted for, but we are only human after all.
With spring in the air, it's a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and cheer on our exceptional spring sports teams. You can always find the schedules for our home events below, so come out and support our athletes.
This is all I have, so until next time, have a great week Hornet Nation!

Student Cell Phone Use
Did you know that even just a few minutes on a cell phone texting, checking social media, etc adds up over the course of a school day? Students, who use their devices for just 5 minutes each period, lose nearly 1 period of instructional time per day (35 minutes of class). Over the course of 1 week, those 5 minutes per class adds up to nearly 4 missed periods! Personal devices can be a HUGE distraction for students. Please start this year off right, by keeping personal devices away in your bookbag or at a charging station if your teacher has one available. There is a direct connection to phone usage during the school day to grades. Encourage your student/s to only use their phone during lunch, between classes, or when approved by a teacher.
